This app is no longer necessary. Tesla has fixed this bug. It only exists for archival purposes :)

There's a problem with the official Tesla app: You can only send an address to your in-vehicle Navigation from Google Maps.
This app lets you send any text you can highlight to your Model S, Model X, or Model 3 in order to search for a point of interest or start navigation.
Simply Share with "Navigation for Tesla" instead of "Tesla", and the app takes care of the rest.
100% secure, there is no need to log in to your Tesla account to use this app.

Great app, has it been replaced with anything? EDIT: This app works for locations shared from within Google search, the Tesla app does not.
