STEINS;GATE is the award-winning time travel science-fiction interactive visual novel developed by 5pb. and Nitroplus.
It is widely considered to be one of the finest Visual Novels ever made.

STEINS;GATE follows a rag-tag band of tech-savvy young students who discover the means of changing the past via mail, using a modified microwave. Their experiments into how far they can go with their discovery begin to spiral out of control as they become entangled in a conspiracy surrounding SERN, the organisation behind the Large Hadron Collider, and John Titor who claims to be from a dystopian future.

Interaction with the game takes place through the “phone trigger” system, where the player can receive calls and text messages and decide whether to reply to them or not, changing the outcome of the game’s plot.

Ratings and reviews

The game is truly amazing! One standout feature is the Phone Trigger system, which is cleverly integrated into the gameplay. It adds depth and makes player choices feel meaningful, as the plot evolves based on your decisions and responses. Unlike typical "choose your choices" games, this one is far more advanced and immersive. The voice acting is good too and while the graphics are decent, they complement the story well. If you're a fan of Steins;Gate, this game is a must-play.

The game itself is great, but they haven't improved anything from the original version,in fact it's worse. It crashes every 10 minutes, the UI isn't optimized for phones and you can't enter full-screen without the black bars on the sides. This could've been a great mobile port that introduces many new people into the series, instead I presume many will give up after half an hour of play

The game is great so far, but the port could do with some patches. I only accidentally figured out how to open the main menu, but if you're swiping right to open it it almost always closes itself immediately, while opening it with a two-finger tap does work. The game also crashes occasionally while just playing the game. At least the game saves after each line of dialogue by default and starts up in a matter of seconds.
