‘Kyuzumi’ is a card-type communication tool for people with developmental disabilities created as a mobile application.
It takes the form of a card-type communication aid (AAC) that expresses intention with voice reproduction by selecting a card that corresponds to a desired desire by looking at a picture drawn on a card by a developmentally disabled person.
'Kyuzumi' is composed of UI/UX in a form that can be used best even by people with developmental disabilities with relatively poor cognitive skills.
In addition, we use a method of making cards including detailed pictures, voices, and text so that non-disabled people who are asked for help can better understand what and how to help.
Qzumi provides the following main functions.
-Deliver the intention of a person with a developmental disability through a card containing a photo, voice, or text
-Customize photo, voice, text and title to appear on the card
-Change the list of cards to be used by people with developmental disabilities and edit the order of cards
1. Deliver the intention of a person with a developmental disability through a card containing a photo, voice, or text
People with developmental disabilities have both cognitive and speech impairments that make it difficult for them to recognize what they want and to explain what they want in language.
Therefore, ‘Kyuzumi’ adopted a method that allows people with developmental disabilities to communicate with others simply by using cards.
People with developmental disabilities can easily select a card that represents their needs from the card list by looking at the [picture] on the card.
When you select a card, detailed content that informs the needs of the developmentally disabled person and how to help is played in [text] and [voice].
This allows non-disabled people who want to help people with developmental disabilities but did not know what to do and how to help them more effectively.
2. Customize the photo, voice, text and title to appear on the card
People with developmental disabilities find it difficult to interpret images that contain implicit meaning.
Unlike other services that consisted of abstract images such as icons and platinum, the card of'Kyuzumi' displays [pictures] familiar to the person with a developmental disability, taken by the guardian himself, so that the person with a developmental disability meets his or her needs. To help you find it better.
In ‘Kyuzumi’, you can include a parent's voice in addition to pictures and text.
We hope that non-disabled people who are seeking help will better understand the needs of people with developmental disabilities and are not afraid of the approach of people with developmental disabilities.
If you express your needs in a calm style and warm voice of the guardian, you can ask for help from non-disabled people who are afraid of the unrefined gestures and speech of the developmentally disabled person.
Even if people with developmental disabilities become self-reliant, they still need the help and care of their guardians.
Cards are managed by a guardian who best understands the person with developmental disabilities so that all persons with developmental disabilities who have different degrees of disability can use ‘Kuzumi’ well.
If a guardian makes a card with the most familiar [photo] or [audio] for the person with a developmental disability, the person with a developmental disability can find the card better.
In addition, the user who can write the most detailed help, help method, and precautions necessary for the developmentally disabled is also the guardian of the developmentally disabled.
3. Change the list of cards to be used by people with developmental disabilities and edit the order of cards
People who live in society use an average of about 20,000 words a day.
If the number of words used by people with developmental disabilities is close to this number, then people with developmental disabilities will have to find the cards they want from a list of about 20,000 cards.
Among the many cards, ‘Kyuzumi’ can select cards to be shown to people with developmental disabilities in each situation and edit the order of cards to be displayed first with the help of a guardian so that people with developmental disabilities can use the cards they want efficiently.
In addition to its main functions, Qzumi contains small considerations for people with developmental disabilities.
1. Because it operates within a smart phone (smart pad), a person with a developmental disability can use it for various purposes in various places in daily life.
2. By analyzing the mobile experience of the developmentally disabled person, the functions and UI/UX are composed of the actions that the developmentally disabled person can perform and the screen that can be recognized best.
3. TTS (Text-To-Speech) technique was used so that the process of making a card by hand with the help of a guardian is not difficult.
When creating any card, you'll need to enter a picture, text, and voice.
However, there are times when unnecessary effort is repeated because similar text and voice must be entered separately.
To prevent this, the option of automatically converting and saving text to speech when entering text is provided during card creation and editing.
4. Instead of making all the cards yourself, you can use someone else's cards. You can download the card using the code number of the card, and you can directly share the card shared on the web as well as the card of an undisclosed individual with the consent of others.
