Responsive, but incomplete A great concept that I'm glad exists. The app itself is fast and responsive, and gives a decent and quick overview of the products. It needs more codes added, as lots of things don't scan, or scan but don't come up entirely accurate. I would love to see this app become more widely used. Keep improving it and I believe it could catch on!
Love the idea It's exhausting trying to balance cost and ethics and availability while shopping. This app does make it a little easier. It just seems like the database is very limited. After scanning the items from my last grocery trip I only found two that are rated by this app. I will definitely keep using it though in the hopes that the developers are continuously adding more and more.
Why is "non-GMO" presented as an "ethical" category? There is nothing inherently ethical about non-GMO products. Sustainable agriculture? Yes. Non-Monsanto? Sure. But non-GMO doesn't guarantee that a product is these things, and GMO doesn't mean there's anything unethical about a product. It's just a technology afterall (and one with the potential to do a LOT of good, I might add).
So far I can't get it to work Looks interesting. Wondering what your data sources are - are you tied into the backend of GoodGuide for instance? Unfortunately, I cannot get the app to work. I scanned about 5-6 different products -- in each case I get a "ERROR - Server out of breath - try again in a few minutes" message. I can't rate what I can't use!
I haven't used it much yet. I like the idea. Wondering if it works on makeup brands too? It only says food, but i think it would be cool if the app showed what products you're using on your body.
Great find! Found this app by accident, and am glad I did. A fairly comprehensive set of metrics provided for companies within the database (ex: Costco). Will help spread the word via social media.
