Seems to be very buggy. Based on advice from a Garmin Webinar, I attempted to download maps for upcoming trip prior to getting to the trail. Certainly a good idea, but I couldn't get it to work. It kept downloading up to a certain point and then stopped. Just plain won't complete. And I have a strong internet connection, and it loads the first 85 MB (in this instance) of 163 MB then just halts. Pretty useless. Android version.

The app is very buggy. Like another reviewer mine does not always pull the messages from the inreach device. Once this happens there does not appear to be a way to manually pull the messages. The count of unread messages on the device get out of sync and there is no way to fix that either. These 2 problems combine to make it very difficult to tell if you have a new message. Changed to one star because after 2 years these problems are still not fixed.

App used to work well. Now on Android 12 is it unable to use the phone's GPS to accurately find location. There is always a blinking question mark over the location, and the location is usually wrong. It is extremely slow to refresh location, and it often stops completely. I haven't had to use the messaging feature of the app since I upgraded my phone... I certainly hope that still works. I can't believe Garmin would let the companion app to a life-saving device be this unreliable.
