Earthmate used to gobble up battery when in the background. Under Android 8.1 I would deal with this little problem by disabling EM's usage when in the background. With the latest EM update the developers seem to want to play nice with battery optimization, but in the process they've killed the persistent bluetooth connection with the Explorer unit (shortly after EM goes into the background, it loses the bluetooth connection to the Explorer, rendering the app useless for communication functions). I did a little experiment and turned off battery optimization for the EM app, and this appears to fix the connectivity persistence problem. I think the app needs a bit more tweaking to make it Android 8 friendly.
This app would be great if it worked. Consistent problems maintaining connection to the inreach, and as others have observed, requires constant pairing and unpairing over Bluetooth to get the messages through. The firmware update over Bluetooth also doesn't seem to work...
Not now, It would not take my pass word, you sent me one and it would not take it either. I have no waypoint page or access to my data, and your help is NO help. I get no answer to any form of request for assistance.
Worked pretty well before the update last night. Now I can't connect to the device anymore. Need to unpair and pair again everytime I need to send a message.
With the last updates attempt to spare the battery they killed it when using with Android Oreo , battery optimization turned on which is default the app will lose Bluetooth connectivity, you have to disable battery optimization in order for Bluetooth connection to be maintained which I think all would agree is a critical feature of the app and the use of the Inreach via your mobile device
It is not well polished application .
