I am a Garmin fan and have 7 devices from handhelds to marine to aviation. I am also not a fan of Apple so I stick with android devices. This app is one of the best android apps out there but doesn't make the cut. The Apple version works so much better and has many more features for the same price. After promises after promises still not the features the Apple version had a year ago. The other big problem is if you don't have WiFi you can't plan and execute a trip. So if you fly to an out of the way place and decide to change your return, you're screwed. SafeTaxi sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I am so disappointed with the Android version I may go to Apple, but if I do I will switch to Foreflight. Not keeping the android version up with the Apple version is telling us we are second class, so why should we stay with them? Using the tablet with ADS-B does finally work OK, using a GDL-39. Some teething pains. So Garmin, update the program and you'll keep a customer. Lag a year behind and I'll leave when my subscription expires.
(Updated) When will we have Synthetic Vision (SVx) for Android? Otherwise, beautiful interface design (best I've seen for an aviation portable or mobile app), and with recent updates, it's getting more stable (keep at it). It's frustrating that there seems to be no combined Canada/US package, like there is for the 696, so you have to pay twice if you fly over the border a lot.
Have used the app for several years. Each rev has made it slower and less reliable. After making sure my downloads were up to date, I flew and called ATC for an approach. To my dismay, all of the approach plates said "Expired" and would not load. Had to cancel and continue VFR. Cannot count on this app.
I'd love to give this app a shot, but the free trial doesn't seem to work, and I'm not about to spend an hour of flying on something I may not like.
Have to drop my rating a bit. Getting slower with each version to load weather.
