I'd love to give this app a shot, but the free trial doesn't seem to work, and I'm not about to spend an hour of flying on something I may not like.
Have to drop my rating a bit. Getting slower with each version to load weather.
Don't know yet.
This review is specific to the Android version. Background: 4 month ago I completed a panel upgrade including a GTN 750 and Flight Stream 510. I'm a former ForeFlight and Jepp charts user. I have since flown with both, the Android and iOS versions of GP. At this time I'm switching to the iOS version for in-flight use: - iOS supports Jepp ChartView, Android still does not. Flight Stream 510 since April supports ChartView via Database Concierge. - Android version routinely crashes in-flight - iOS is much more stable. - Android app routinely becomes 'unresponsive' when ADS-B weather (via GTX 345) overlay on maps is enabled. - iOS nicer graphics - iOS supports synthetic vision (not that important day-to-day, but nice to have in an emergency). The android device is a Pixel C. I'll still appreciate the android version on my phone and pixel-c for flight planning, quick weather checks, etc. but it's clearly a 2nd rate app, and there doesn't seem to be an effort by Garmin to get android up to par with iOS.
Great flight application with many useful, indispensable features. However it is not as good as its iOS counterpart. Friend with the same app on an iPad has various tools I do not. One of these being W&B (Unless I'm missing something) Some items difficult to find at times also (A/FDs) All in all still a wonderful app that has been used on 11+ hour xCountrys everywhere from WV to FL to IL!
Beautiful interface design (best I've seen for an aviation portable or mobile app), and with recent updates, it's finally stopped crashing all the time. One big missing feature from dedicated portables like the 696 is a "Select approach" option. It's a pain that there seems to be no combined Canada/US package, like there is for the 696, so you have to pay twice if you fly over the border a lot.
