Posco was created for my [high school] senior year independent study. It has been in development for over one year. I started out with a single goal in mind: to create an affordable, easy to use, powerful AAC application. Achieving this goal was possible due to my experience as not only an aspiring software developer, but as a founding member of my school's Unified Sports team and a member of the Connecticut Unified Sports Youth Activation Council.
After close to six months of real world testing, Posco has consistently been successful in facilitating communication for people with a wide range of disabilities. I hope that Posco can help you or someone you care about in the same way it has helped the people that I care about.

This app teaches over 225 signs to you and your child, and is not your typical app that only teaches the alphabet. Your child will be able to express their basic needs by using this complete system which includes about 400 videos and photos. Each signed word is shown on clear and easy to understand videos. Pictures of words are also included to help the child correlate the picture with the sign.
It is proven that teaching your child American Sign Language ( ASL ) at an early age will boost their IQ by more than 12 points. It will allow them to communicate at a much earlier age than their peers and will give them an early start for future language skills.
This system of videos will teach your child much faster than a typical sign language dictionary. See your baby or child start to communicate today!
(This program is also designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, autistic children, or children with a speech delay).
Speech therapists may use this system as a resource to support language acquisition during speech therapy sessions.

Music is a tool for the whole brain: when listening to a song, the left brain ( language, logic, mathematics) processes the lyrics while the right brain (rhythm, rhyme, pictures, emotions ) processes the music. According to Howard Gardner, developmental psychologist and professor of Cognition and Education at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, musical intelligence runs in an almost structural parallel to linguistic intelligence.

The app opens up to a menu that allows the user to read the story, or access 9 buttons that “speak” when tapped saying polite phrases taught in the story such as “please,” “your welcome” and “excuse me.”
Certain individuals, particularly those with communication and social delays as someone diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, may need more direct instruction in learning to common polite phrases and tips for having good manners.
Social stories are an important type of visual support often used with children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome or other special need.
Teaching conversational skills to any child may be easier and less stressful when visual supports, like social stories are used. This social story uses simple text and descriptive pictures to explain why and how to be polite so to not hurt anyone’s feelings.
Social stories were first defined by Carol Gray in 1991 and are commonly used to break down a task or social situation into small and easy to understand steps, often accompanied by descriptive pictures. Social stories are easy to implement and are used by many professionals for a wide range of behaviors and skills.
BridgingApps said: “The interface is clean and user-friendly ... there are a number of other special features that make this app stand out from others in its category”.
You can use Special Stories in many ways, including:

You can create as many stories as you wish, and update them again later. A choice of large and small text sizes, in an easy to read font, allows for either single words and short phrases or longer sentences.
Special Stories has a simple and uncluttered interface for reading and listening to stories, making it suitable for use by children and adults with ASD, Down syndrome, poor fine motor skills, hearing impairment and other learning difficulties. A range of settings allows you to configure the app and adjust as your child develops.

"Excellent and well written with a lot of valuable content... definitely worth checking out."—Crazy Mike's Apps
Middle school social drama can flare up without warning and turn your world upside down. At times like this, you may wonder, “Who are my real friends?” Based on the second book in the award-winning Middle School Confidential™ series, Real Friends vs. the Other Kind follows Jack, Jen, Chris, Abby, Mateo, and Michelle from the first app as they forge friendships and navigate tough social situations. They run into relationship issues such as making friends, resolving disputes, and dealing with gossip, exclusion, and cyberbullying.
Written by teen expert and anti-bullying activist Annie Fox, illustrated by Matt Kindt, and published by Free Spirit Publishing, this graphic novel app enables readers to zoom right into the story world. The app puts decision-making power into the hands of readers, with interactive quizzes that test what a real friend would do in a given situation. With beautiful full-color illustrations and richly layered audio made up of movie-like sound effects and music, Real Friends will be a surefire hit with 8- to 14-year-olds (even those who don’t like to read!). As a bonus for parents and teachers, this app puts thought-provoking storytelling and solutions into the hands of teens who deal with tricky friendship issues every day. It will challenge teens to think about their friendships in new ways and encourage them to stand up for themselves and be more empathetic.
“...Annie Fox’s series of graphic novels was cutting-edge in print—[but] even more amazing [as an app]! I am delighted to see the quizzes... These interactive activities can help young people integrate the important lessons from the novels into their lives. Electric Eggplant has really perfected an otherwise near-perfect series with this additional interactive content.”—Carisa Kluver, Digital Storytime

“Two thumbs up! This is a series not to be missed.”–Andrea Gardner, Applicable2U
“Who needs to pay $8 for a movie ticket, when you have the drama of middle school right in your hand?”—Lori Calabrese, National Children’s Books Examiner.com

Talk To Me 100® allows the learner to control their environment, and to signal the point of readiness to communicate. Talk To Me 100® also provides immediate and consistent feedback, allows for practice and repetition of 100 frequently used words throughout daily activities, provides fun and enjoyment and lets the learner become accustomed to touch screen use.
Talk To Me 100® is designed to provide communication partners with 100 words organized in a predictable format to use in an unlimited choice of daily activities. Sydspeak created this app for children with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, speech and language disorders and other special needs. Talk To Me 100® provides communication partners with a core vocabulary to begin verbal expression for all functions of language: imitate, comment, answer, question, describe, retell, accept, reject, repeat, command, request, explain, persuade, maintain social relationship and influence.
The adult communication partner models one or more words by selecting the buttons and using their natural voice to speak the same words whether you are getting ready for school, eating dinner, reading or playing outside; opportunities for verbal interaction are unlimited.
Talk To Me 100® provides a beginning augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) solution for people who have difficulty speaking. Once the learner begins to combine 2-3 words spontaneously to communicate a new or novel thought, they are well on their way to using more than 100 words, either using natural voice or using a more expanded and dynamic AAC device.
This app is a digital replica and companion to the original “child friendly” Talk To Me 100® available at www.sydspeak.com. Priced at $59, this tablet is similar in size and comes in a durable plastic case with 3AAA batteries. Research shows that when each communication partner uses their own personal voice output device, language acquisition is more efficient. For some children, a predictable pattern of images on a computer screen using the same child’s voice has more impact than pictures on paper with changing adult verbal interactions. For the first time, we now have a powerful communication system where both partners can have their own affordable and effective language device with the same voice and symbols. The free version offers a sample of beginning language learning.
I recently evaluated a 3 year old child who was nonverbal. His parents said he only spoke 2 words: “mama” and “bye”. When presented with the Talk To Me 100®, he began exploring the board, pressing the symbols and listening to the words. I began using my version on the android app, and he immediately began imitating my words by pressing the symbols on his device. What sometimes takes months of therapy to achieve, he was imitating words within a few minutes!!!
We designed Quick Type as an affordable, easy-to-use alternative to many of the typical Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) apps and devices currently available. It has been designed for those who with cerebral palsy, apraxia, down syndrome, autism, Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) and any other condition which causes an individual to be low or non-verbal.
We have included three high quality US English voices for you to choose from, two female voices and one male voice. You can also choose to speak automatically after typing a word or sentence, if you wish. You can also share your current speech or an entire conversation via email, Facebook, or Twitter which allows you to save important conversations or share them with friends and family.
You also have quick access to Yes and No buttons to allow quick responses to simple questions!
We hope you enjoy using Quick Type and believe it will make a difference in people’s lives! We take all of our customers feedback seriously, so please email us with any suggestions about how we can further improve our products.
About Digital Scribbler, Inc
Founded by Russ Ewell, Digital Scribbler is a technology company, whose "built in the garage" origin story typifies Silicon Valley. This garage is now more mentality than place. It is a mindset which says, "If we can dream it, we can build it." We dreamed of creating an affordable communication app, which was capable of giving the verbally challenged a voice. It needed to be mobile, simple, and flexible. Quick Type AAC is the second product to come from this dream at it has been helping people speak since then.
