Phone App has not worked. Works on PC which does me no good because PC is at home with the tv. Customer service exp was a nightmare. 3 days of calling to get acct info straight. They originally gave me the wrong acct number, ( for a previous canceled install). So after a week of service nothing could be done on the acct because it was showing pending for install. 2 days and countless transfers no results. On the 3rd day I got a Direct Tv bill with you guessed it, a different account #. Armed with this info it only took me 48 minutes, 6 transfers, and what seemed countless acct verifications and explaining to get the"pending install" acct closed. Don't get me wrong. ... I love Direct Tv. It is 100% better than FIOS...BUT the customer service reminded me of Verizon. I have given up on the app because I would have to call customer service. I fear another bad episode as that would cause me to cancel the service and go to comcast.
The app seems to run at a sloth speed all the time (Even on superfast wifi). It always gives me issues when streaming my DVR away from home, and the download to phone option is the worst of them all. It takes longer to download then the show/movie's actual length, and sometimes it just does nothing. I'll regularly set stuff up to download overnight and it only works like half the time. Fix your crappy app, I pay you guys a lot of money I expect improvements. Thanks
Always stalls out. Always buffering. Always restarting app. No built in cast button. Have to cast through google Chromecast screen mirror. Then you have to jump back and forth between screens and then restart the channel you were trying to watch. I hate to be so negative and I know it's different, but I never have these problems with Hulu, Netflix, Amazon. It is great for watching tv on your phone on the go, as long as you don't want to cast its okay.
Some positives but a lot of negatives... Tried to watch a show through my dvr and would get an "optimizing video quality" load screen every 2 minutes. Turned a 40 minute show into almost 2 hours. Would like to disable auto play when trying to live stream, it has to load a guide, start playing a random channel before I can choose what I want to watch.
Kicks you off the channel your watching every time you make a choice, has to reload the page. Got kicked of of app, had to sign up again. Forgot my user name and Pw, good luck, that doesn't work. Much poorer choice of channels. Moving to the dish network. Cheaper too!!!!
crashes frequently. video quality poor 50% of the time. many many commercials - not even different commercials, the same commercials - that you have to watch again and again each time you close the app. if you close the app, or it crashes, it doesn't always save your spot, meaning you have to watch the commercials again, even if you skip forward to your previous spot. pain in the butt. very nice to have access to many many complete seasons of current favorite shows.
