Ratings and reviews

The app works well overall and I appreciated that the audio would continue playing in the background, as some of the descriptions are rather long (and dry) and this allowed me to use other apps once in a while and continue listening. My only complaint is that the audio is so ridiculously quiet that upon switching to another app, I had to remember to dramatically reduce the volume of my device (something I was quickly and painfully trained to do) or have my eardrums rattled by any other audio.

Good background noise while walking but that's it. There's too much bland and repetitive information given for each point of interest. There's only so many times you can hear "this was decorated in the fourth style" before it turns into a droning wannabe professor. Too much narrative detail is put on colours and things that we can see for ourselves instead of getting to the point about the significance of it. By the time the audioguide got to the interesting parts, we had already moved on.

Bought the app on the day, and was impressed! Much better value than the audio guide on site (8€ p/device), or the booklet that is also available (16€!), plus you can use it again if you ever go back to Pompeii. Informative and clear audio and text on pretty much all the main buildings, easy to use and the gps works great. Only things I'd say should be added is the option for a tour path marked on the map covering the most important buildings, and more languages. Fully recommend!
