FIX THE APP! HASN'T WORKED SINCE LAST UPDATE!!! December 2015, D-Link updated and the app was down for over 2 months. December 2016, D-Link updated again and the app is still down. It is the end of January. I will change this post as the month changes. Don't buy these cameras because they quit working way too much to be reliable.
It works great, if you install it correctly. Connected easily to network using WPS. The setup process hung/stalled when I tried to do it all via the app on my phone. When I tried to complete it via my laptop, there was something wrong as my camera was registered but not listed. I reset the camera, reset the wps connection, made sure port 80 outbound was open on the router and did the setup/registration process from my laptop. Everything worked after that. I can view local or remote from phone or laptop. Good quality too.
The alerts to my phone, although will show up when the app is closed, they do not make an audible sound. So that's not helpful. Can't find a way to change the settings to fix the issue. My husband has the same problem.
Bad app I was so excited to be able to keep an eye on my dog with this camera and I was incredibly disappointed with the app. The camera looked super cool and I'm sure it's great, but I never got to try it because the app wouldn't connect. I literally tried to get it to work for days, following the directions to the letter. I returned it to Best Buy and bought a Nest indoor cam instead. I had it set up and working within 15 minutes! Skip DLink. Go Nest!
Worked for a day, now cannot view recordings This app worked great for the first day. Then suddenly no one can view the recorded videos on the SD card. We have to download them from the advanced settings program and can only do that when we are on site. This confirms it's not the SD card. What happened to the app? Getting a "cannot connect error 1" using both the Android and Windows versions. 🙁
Basics work well. Beats messing with java downloads required to view on PC's.
