The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was launched on 15th August 2020 by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in the 272 most vulnerable districts to substance use in the country. Through NMBA, the Ministry aims to create mass awareness about substance use through the active participation of key stakeholders, such as youth, adolescents, women, educational institutions, and the community at large.
Since its launch, lively discussions have taken place in public spheres like educational institutions, community areas, and virtual spaces like social media, which have encouraged those in need of help to seek assistance. This has also helped raise awareness about substance use and reduce the stigma associated with drug abuse. On August 15, 2023, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was expanded to include all the districts of the country.
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan mobile application aims to collect data on the activities taking place on the ground with various stakeholders through master volunteers who are leading the Abhiyaan activities in their respective districts, with the guidance and support of the District Administrations.
