Useful for management. Turbo transfer does not work for photos and videos stored in gallery. Does not allow file selection. 😣 Newer version displays wrong mac ids. Does not allow to rename device name on mobile device running genie. Removing wifi analytics is a bad idea. Shows repeaters twice as wired and on wifi. Update 1 The latest version allows renaming the device but does not allow device type to changed through netgear extender. Update 2 Unable access wifi extender route map. Default user ID and password dont work. Update 2 problem resolved through extender reset to factory values. Update 3 Device type option is not available for the device running genie and when connected through wifi extender ex6120 Update 4 Thanks for reintroducing wifi analytics. It would be nice if graphs are zoomable as the numbers are too tiny to read on x and y axes
I think the reason these reviews are so high is that in the app when you give it a good review it brings you to the review page to submit it. How ever if you give it a bad review it takes you back to the app and doesn't submit it. Anyway I don't know what is worse, the app or the router. We bought a netgear nighthawk, payed over $200 for it and it has never worked right. When we call there customer support they basically say that they don't know why it isn't working. That's it basically, we don't care you already bought it. When I try to use the app to reset the router, which I have to do daily, it takes at least 5 tried before the app will connect to the router. It is usually faster for me to go downstairs and manually reset it. Will never buy a netgear product again.
The New version caused my router to lock up and reboot when I was the only one on it. Takes 3x longer to log on. The interface is better looking but does not work. After having major security issues still with your routers im done this 300$ paper weight its going in the closet Update: After new security update worked great for 2 days now I have to reboot router to log back in and app does not stay connected the router wrks just fine no issues.
This app worked really well when I first installed it but as of recent it has stopped working all together. Even if I'm on the same network as my router it asks me to connect, I can't sign in to do remote access for the same reason apparently and I'm just really disappointed that I have to uninstall this app. It really was helpful a lot of the time.
So it appears that Netgear has unified Genie and ReadyCloud into a single app which sounds wonderful in concept as software is supposed to be multifunctional, not multi app. The media capabilities are just awful. I can't stream a simple m4v file? Seriously? MX Player can do it, why can't I just select it by default instead of whatever Netgear is trying to use? Good concept, but horrid implementation. Remote access doesn't work, I get an error that the router is registered on another account when attempting to enable it. WTF? Edit: post update, the login issue that was supposedly fixed isn't fixed. I receive a "router is registered to another account" message.
Does not allow me to login in to my router, there is no error message but instead tells me to connect my device to the Wi-Fi even though it already is. The app then goes back to the login screen. This is a broken app which offers zero functionality, it is just a waste of storage space. NetGear, this is pathetic coding and the quality assurance is even worse.
1.Reintroduces the WiFi Analytics feature (You must allow the app to access your device’s location in order to use this feature.)
2.Displays the link rate for each device in network map
3.Improves the login flow – Skips the NETGEAR account login by default. The genie app now directly takes you to the dashboard without logging in. You can log in to your NETGEAR account for remote access from the dashboard.
4. Fixes the login issue
5. Fixes the crash issues
6. Fixes the typo issues
