The application listens to what people say and converts them into text which the deaf can read.
It also speaks the text deaf enters.
Our application notifies the deaf when someone calls him by vibrating and flashing.
Deaf Assistant provides a simple to use chatting application user interface with numerous backgrounds and chat bubbles designs with the ability to change font color and size.
It also provides a widget for instant and fast access that will start Deaf Assistant and start listening automatically.
This is a very simple application that will convert speech into readable text.
For a non-hearing or hard of hearing person, the application will allow faster communication with deaf persons. For deaf users, the software can assist in faster communication and may also be used as a useful tool when practicing your speech.
I would like to thank my friend Mitch Bergsma for the inspiration to write this useful tool.

This application requires access to internet for the Google Speech engine, data rates may apply.
Currently the only supported language is English.
It was written as an aid to communication with deaf people. I have shared it here just in case other people find it useful.
The size of the font can be configured.
It continually listens and displays text when a sentence has finished. As with all apps that use the Google speech recognition service, it is better to speak slowly and clearly.

What you say in English is immediately translated into sign language through mimix making it easier to have a clear, two-way communication without having to know sign language.
The interpretation is based on American Sign Language (ASL), and interpreted by the 3D avatar as signed English. It is not meant as a replacement for human interpreters, but will assist in communicating with deaf or hard of hearing individuals who use sign language.
Mimix app. also transforms text into spoken words, so the deaf person can write text, which is then spoken and signed simultaneously.
The three main functions in mimix are converting:
Speech into sign language.
Text into sign language.
Text into voice.
We aim to help both deaf and hearing people communicate, share ideas and express thoughts with others using this app.
More than 2500 animated sign language
Translate speech into sign language effectively
User friendly with periodical updates for sign language library, design and functionality.
*This is a Beta version, please provide us with your feedback to improve mimix.
If you are a hearing person, you can communicate with your deaf relatives, friends, clients, employees and so on.
If you are a deaf person, you can make a face-to-face conversation with hearing people without sign interpreter. You can use the system everywhere: at home, at your work, at restaurants, during your education and so on.
The system consists of two android devices (phones or tablets), linked via Bluetooth.
Install the “Deaf-Hearing Chat Device-D” application on the first device (which will be used by a deaf person).
Install the “Deaf-Hearing Chat Device-H” application on the second device (which will be used by a hearing person).
Run the applications on both devices and link the devices via Bluetooth.
A hearing person speaks into the phone, the application transforms the speech into a text message and sends it to the Device-D (used by a deaf person). You can also exchange text messages between the devices.
The system is very convenient for regular communication in families with a deaf family member. Each message is followed by vibration, so you can always call a deaf person, address him / her.
The system may also be used by a deaf person to communicate with hearing people in a shop, a hospital, a bank, etc. In this case, a deaf person should have both devices with him / her and pass a device with a pre-installed “Device-H” application to a hearing person to start communication at any time.
The application for the device-D, called Deaf-Hearing Chat Device D, enables a deaf person to type text messages on a virtual keyboard and to send them to the device-H (the button “Send”). Each sent message can be duplicated by the synthetic speech (the button “Speak and Send”). For the synthetic speech a speech synthesis module should be installed on the device (usually it’s installed; if it’s not it can be downloaded from Google Play, e.g. SVOX classic TTS or Pico TTS). The messages, received from the device-H, are shown on the display.
Buying applications for the complex you’re contributing to rehabilitation of the deaf and helping them to adapt to the modern world of hearing people.
