Not Sure How This Is Any Better Than Using DDG In My Browser. What advantages are there to the app version? No tabs, no customization, etc. I don't see the point. Enlighten me. And by the way, the "stories" aren't a draw for me. I don't see that feature as a reason to keep the app. Tell me what makes this better than the browser version when it has less features and maybe I'll raise you a star.
I was leary of using this as a browser for privacy, after much research I was satisfied with the results. I will always maintain a vigilant watch regarding my privacy, any browser's results including Google and I try to inform others why privacy is so important. The Duck is okay, quack quack.
Great privacy, but stop adding random pictures to "stories" based on random word matches, it's completely wrong more than not, and erodes trust in pictures actually from the linked story. For your search engine in general, try not to ignore search terms and document available search operators, also clearly mark when/where switching to 3rd party search engine backfill. Also the link redirection in your html browser search sometimes conflict with browser privacy filters.
The stories can be left out for me, it feels more like a lifestyle blog than a search engine. It would be nice to have shortcuts implemented for use with nova launcher. Google-like functionality (like relevant info directly on top of the page) is useful, but I guess I'll get used to it. Other than that: very sleek design and works well. There is not much difference between just using DDG on the browser though. I feel like the app is missing out on some functionality.
Not only is DDG my favourite search engine (it's even the default in Pale Moon, my favourite web browser), but it's great that they have an Android app. Yes, it can be set as the Android "search assistant". Plus, I find the stories in this app to be more enjoyable (and even funny) than what's shown for me in the Google News app.
Wow of all search engine apps apps this is the best and I'm really satisfied, do you know why? because everything has it. powerful search engine, easy to set-up, easy to use, no lag, no one will really track you and ad free. Please keep up the good work :)
