The word torah refers to any kind of instruction, but in practical use:
-The Torah title usually refers specifically to the Five Books of Moses.
-The Torah can also refer to the Written Torah, that is, all canonized Scriptures.
-The Torah can also refer to what we have mentioned plus the Oral Torah, which includes:
-the compilation of laws and regulations called Mishná, along with other compilations accepted,
-the discussion and debate of such material, which is what is called the Talmud or the Gemara,
-the stories and their lessons, which are compiled in the Talmud and midrashic works.
All other teachings that were accepted by the long-standing consensus of the observant Jewish community, either because they have firm bases on some precedent or because it was shown that they arose by accepted means from previous texts and opinions.
