Online parental control is more and more top of mind for everyone in recent years. This means that kids are really vulnerable in the online world, being exposed to bullies and vicious online predators. According to the same research, 30% of the participating kids admitted that they have been faced with cyberbullying while using their phones.

This leads us to the conclusion that almost no one is taking care of children’s safety on the Internet properly.

So we created Meerkiddo, a swiss army knife in parental control, with the purpose of filling all the gaps that exist in this field. It is a very cozy, both child and parent friendly Android app with the largest number of features in the global market in this moment. In other words, it is a one stop shop for parents who care for their children safety on the internet.

The name of the app came by blending the words “kid” and “meerkat”, together forming the word Merkiddo. Why a meerkat? A meerkat is a well-known animal from a famous cartoon and is also one of the most social, cooperative and protective animals in the world. The perfect spirit animal for what our application does!
Our core features:
Our app uses Accessibility services and Device Administrator permission so that parents can track their child’s location (real-time and past-time locations), schedule alarms and reminders on the child’s phone, check battery level, lock child’s phone remotely, create app usage blacklist and whitelist and even schedule the usage of certain apps, for example the parent can permit access to Facebook only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm to 8pm.
A parent can choose to be notified whenever their child types previously forbidden keyword on its phone, or to even block certain websites from their child’s scope of accessibility. Also, geofence technology enables one of our greatest protection tools which allows the parent to mark safe area on the map and if their child leaves this area the parent can choose to be instantly notified of this action.
The child’s phone is actually combination of multiple IoT devices in one, and we turn that into a premium parent control and surveillance poweradmin system.

By developing this app we wish to emphasize the rising problem of children’s online safety and to prevent our children from being cyberbullied. Children cyberprotection and online parental control is something that will increasingly gain in importance as the time goes by, so why not take appropriate steps in a timely manner to prevent possible and irrevocable damage?

It works! The only problem it has, it's with the GPS location update. A few days ago my daughter took the wrong bus and got lost. I tried to see where is she and the app hasn't updated her location for more then an hour. I notice this problem earlier but I didn't think that it was a big problem. In this case it was. The app showed her approximately 5 km away. I pressed the refresh button but nothing. And this is not the only incident. That's why I think that this app lets you down when you need it. And I give it 3 stars. :( Maybe the developer can fix this problem of refreshing more often or doing it when you press that button. Thanx.! :)

I got as far as finding out you can only link one parent and one child. That doesn't work in a 2 parent household nor in a multi child one. Unfortunately without that it's useless to me. App seems ok on the surface at least. Maybe once it comes out of beta it will be better. It seems a bit unfinished.

I love this app. However, it would be nice if I was able to see pictures, (especially inappropriate contents) and not just SMS from my kids device seeing that I have a teenage daughter. Also, it would be awesome if there was an IOS version of this app so parents who have kids with diffrent devices could have access to all devices in one place. Looking forward to these added features even if they have to be in the premium/paid feature.
