About this game

"e-regata" is an interactive real-time sailing races simulator with an addictive gameplay. It's intended for any player regardless of sailing and racing experience. Join the game if you dare!

In order to take part in the race, you should create an account on www.e-regata.com, download "e-regata" app and install it on your smartphone or PC with OS Windows. After that you get access to the game server if you have a stable Internet connection.

The winners are determined every week after a series of races and awarded with real prizes that are provided by our partners.

The game engine contains the implementation of hydro- and aerodynamic laws, physics of sailing, wind shadows, environmental turbulence, wind oscillation and polar curves for J/70 yacht, that is a base model for the game. In the future we are going to expand the list of the yacht models. Except racing with real-world rivals, you can also train with virtual bots.

The regattas are conducted according the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016. All decisions on appeals are submitted in real time.

Have you never taken part in sailing races? Have you missed the Olympic games? This virtual regatta will give you an opportunity to start from the scratch and to become a champion. If you're a regatta fan, if you dream about yacht racing, "e-regata" is your way to the world of sailing.

To get started and make the road to success a bit shorter, we recommend you to read "Start to Win" by Eric Twiname. This book will help you to resolve the most of questions about racing tactics.

Great practice for tactics and a safe way of getting lotsa reps for quick thinking about rules and right of way. The boat response in tacking seems realistic, but takes a while to get the feel/timing. Love the constant availability of polar diagram. A downside is jittery behavior or the controls break when there is a lot going on with other boats at a mark. Rules are implemented well, except that a right of way boat (eg, leeward) needs to allow room for other boats to keep clear (eg, turn up).

I couldn't get very far in the training section because I couldn't figure out how to turn the boat to adjust my tack/jibe angle. Super non-intuitive, perhaps a quick tutorial would help.

Good idea but constantly fall foul of deliberate ramming. Check the rules and fix please. Even if you have right-of-way, it is your duty to avoid a collision, once it becomes apparent that the other boat is not or cannot keeping clear (Rule 14)
