About this app

Thousands of public safety organizations across the United States and Canada use the CodeRED community notification system to initiate emergency notifications. The CodeRED Mobile Alert app enables subscribers to receive these notifications directly to their personal cell phone whether at home, on the road, or traveling around the country. Alerts are initiated by authorized public safety officials to deliver location-based notifications and are not issued by OnSolve or its staff.

Free alerts available*

• Emergency
• General
• Missing person

*PLEASE NOTE: If the public safety agency covering your current location is not subscribed to the CodeRED service, you will not receive alerts through this application. If your city or state does not currently subscribe to CodeRED, contact your local public safety organization today to let them know that your community would benefit from this service.

Helpful hints:

• Enable location services on your phone.
• Your app account and the account you create for your community’s CodeRED system are NOT associated with each other. You must create separate accounts.
• The CodeRED Mobile Alert app comes with a complimentary 30-day trial of CodeRED Enhanced Weather subscription that automatically alerts US-based subscribers of severe weather. The optional CodeRED Weather Warning add-on is an additional $0.99/year, but it is NOT required to receive emergency, general and missing person alerts.
• The app also features the ability to view local radar footage for the past hour and satellite imagery of the previous 24 hours.

This app used to send me mobile alerts for fires, tornadoes, etc. But now for this past year or two, many dangerous weather systems have come & gone without any mobile alerts. Oh, but it sends me emails! Dude, I'm not gonna be checking my email during potential emergencies! I told it to alert my phone, but it won't! Sometimes if I open it directly, it claims there's a ridiculous number of active alerts on the map, but they're super far away! Totally irrelevant! This needs a major overhaul!

As many reviewers have been saying, this app used to be great but it no longer works. Every time I open it (when I know there's an alert in my area), I get a notification (through Android system notifications) that says "This is required to send your current location status to the server." Tapping on the notification simply takes me into the CodeRED app. The notification is not cleared until I force close the app. Useless! (I have granted all location permissions in settings, to no avail.)

Worked fine until needed. During the CA Lighting Complex fires, with a good bit of California on fire, the app notified me of a new alert in my area. When I tapped the notification, the app crashed. Upon restarting it, it asked me to sign in again, then responded "Your request could not be completed" The issue is probably the servers got overloaded, but that's the issue with an emergency app designed and tested under normal circumstances, but only really used in abnormal ones.
