Worst newsreader app ever! Incredibly slow, incredibly laggy, images not displaying even though issue downloaded. Latest build is worst of all, crashing every few minutes on my admittedly low-end tablet. It looks like they are trying to fix things by loading resources in sequence rather than all at once. But that just shows they have completely the wrong architecture, as an app like this should not need that. Content still excellent, but shocking the Economist would put out such an abysmal app.

Buggy audio playback and 20 minutes to cancel subscription. For several months the audio playback randomly stops or skips tracks. Uninstalling and reinstalling hasn't fixed it. I only listen to The Economist so I cancelled my subscription (the rate was going to double anyway). You have to interact with an agent to cancel and I got 20 minutes of hard sell before being allowed to cancel. After seven years of being a subscriber, it was hugely disappointing that such tactics are being used.

The app is very good – it combines the weekly editions, espresso, and fresher content. The content is, of course, excellent. The app has been improved and it is now responsive, THANK YOU! As a reader with bad eye-sight, I only wish for one improvement now: the list of weekly edition articles below the article I'm just reading should highlight the current one for easier orientation.
