The SmartFarming app provides farmers with agricultural support, advices and information about sustainable cotton production in India. The app is completely available in the local language of Maharashtra, Marathi as well as in English
The SmartFarming app could be used for the identification of pests and diseases in your cotton field. The identification can be done in two ways. The first option is to compare the symptoms you see in your field to pictures provided in the app. The second option is by making use of monitoring equipment like pheromone traps. Economic Threshold Levels are included in the app and used to give an advice if action is recommended or not.
Whenever a pest or disease is identified the app will provide you with general information and multiple control measures. The control measures are categorised in ''biological control'', ''IPM control'' and ''conventional control''. Within these three categories you can find three subcategories of different validation levels on farm level.
The app also features an action advice function in which specific advises are given according to the timeline of crop growth.
Finally the app has the function ''Stage-wise Good Agricultural Practises''. With this function information and advises about cotton production are given. These information is categorised in the different growth stages of the cotton crop to give a good overview of important actions during the growing season in time. Included in the information is for example: pre-sowing activities, sowing practises, soil fertility and more.
