Review from Alpha Machina
Oh, wow.. This is in dire need of some kind of publication. But I fear it would only diminish the RPG fork in the road play style. You, sir, have gifted me a masterpiece. I haven't put this down for the past day and a half. I find myself going to it at regular intervals at work when no one is around, just to glimpse the wonderfully gloomy imagery. The gritty, harsh reality is depicted in a light of comradery with the constant nagging of the possibility of being alone. Truly a great series.
November 27, 2016Thanks so much, eloquently and kindly reviewed Alpha! Hope you enjoy book 2 as much - also free! - Pat
This game story is by far the best out there. The story and how it plays out is unique. The way the graphics appear in a sort of water color way add to the story instead of distracting from it. The controls are easy and the way they've used mini games to tie into the main game is fun and actually matters and alters your game slightly. It requires no permissions at least on my phone and has very little ads. Shockingly little amount of ads. It's addictive for sure and everyone should check it out. It's nice to have such a great game that lets us make so many different choices too.
Great game! I was really surprised to find such an intriguing story in a free app, and I finished the whole thing in one go. In the next update I would like to see a list of achievements (instead of having to wait until the end) and an option to re-read the chapters to figure out which choices are better for the mind, body, etc. Can't wait for the next book to be released! EDIT: can all the achievements be completed?? I'm going nuts trying to get each one.
I love this game. I used to play the 'choose your own adventure' books as a kid and this brings back happy memories. I think the eighth continent is better written than the old books though. One thing I find frustrating is not knowing how to get all the achievements. I've played over and over and there are still some I can't get. I wish there was a walkthrough for achievements. I'm currently playing yet again and trying to do a walkthrough at the same time so I can see where I'm missing things. I could do with more 'save' slots - one for each chapter would be nice. Great app though. Can't wait for part 3.
Very Entertaining This game is well written, has likeable characters, and high replay value. I enjoyed the inclusion of the minigames to break up the text and offer a different element to the CYOA genre. (For anyone who dislikes or has trouble with the minigames, you can chose to skip them in your settings.) I would highly recommend this game and look forward to playing the second game.
Changed my opinion!! I was never a fan of text games..but This game is based on post Apocalypse story, that got me...and must say...i am hooked to it. Although this game is perfect in its category and for people who are not bored by reading, It would make a great 3d game..Anyways thanks for this amazing game!
This game really went beyond my expectations! I always loved text-adventure games, but this is the first time I get to enjoy sound effects! They're so detailed, especially in the mini games I can't even let go of the story before I finished it. But, seriously, I can't get to save my achievements after I start a new game? And, like one of the comments has stated, please make a list of replayable chapters instead of having to start the whole story all over again. I'm itching for not knowing what I'd missed.
1) Improved fight help text and added help text for dynamic options.
2) Various typos and minor fixes.
3) Vendor now update if the player consumes saleable items from their inventory.
4) Vendor mini-games stay a minimum height to make help dialogs easier to read when the item list is short.
