Essential App This app is essential on all of my devices since manufacturers wont provide it. ** my only gripe is being forced to select a typical "launcher" as my home. I use "lightning drawer" and would love to be able to have it assigned to home. If you would please add this ability I will give 5 stars :] Or I could ask the lightning Dev to add the darn intent to his app but i think others would benefit from this feature in Home2 ;]
Absolutely brilliant! Now all I need to do is double tap the centre home key on my S4 & the camera turns on, WoW. People commenting that it doesn't work or that it doesn't work properly may not have done setup properly. As you also need to follow through with the step where you choose your default Launcher, so when you tap the centre home key, it brings you back to your launcher. I have a Samsung galaxy S4 on 4.3 with GO Launcher & it works perfect, I can't comment about kit kat 4.4 &/or other phone models.
Great fix to replace S-Voice on Note 2 I prefer to use Google's voice search over Samsung's S-Voice and this was the perfect fix to enable the same "home button double tap" to launch voice search on my AT&T Note 2. Of course there were already other ways to get into voice search, but this method is definitely convenient. The user interface of the app isn't very pretty or the most clear, but the step by step setup guides the user well enough. I like the option to change the double tap delay setting so that you can trade off responsiveness of the home button with the speed needed to launch the app you've selected. The app also can be used to assign apps to other home key combinations such as pressing the Home button followed by the Menu button. I'm not using the feature now, but I could see it being handy for some applications. For other Note2/S3/etc users, it appears to be required to disable S-Voice to enable Home2 shortcut. I disabled S-Voice by launching S-Voice, going into the menu and deselecting the "Open via the home key" check-box.
Works as advertised. Minor Cosmetic issue. First, I use this on a Stock Note 3 with Android 4.4.2 to allow me to use the home key (double-tap) to trigger Google Now while still using Nova Launcher. Works perfectly for that. One minor, cosmetic issue I have noticed with the later versions of Android is that Home2 Shortcut does not currently support transparent status bars (last updated 2011 as of May 2014). So when I click my home key, my transparent status bar (supported by Nova) turns black briefly before going transparent again. I think this is due to the way Home2 Shortcut works as it is loaded first before triggering your chosen launcher. Minor, but it would be nice to have it fixed. Also, some people have pointed out that using Home2 Shortcut may cause your "normal" launcher from NOT being kept in memory since technically Home2 Shortcut is acting as your initial launcher even though you don't really see it. On lower memory devices, this may cause launcher redraws when you hit your home key. I do not see this on my Note 3.
Galaxy Note 2 and 2013 Suburban Switched to a Galaxy Note 2 from a Droid X. No comparison here. Samsung much more user friendly and such a better phone. Had a Droid Razr Maxx Hd also. Bad experience here. My suburban hands free calling would not work. Downloaded this app. Which cancels S voice and makes Google Voice your default. Simply works without a problem. . Step 1) Go into the S Voice settings and uncheck the Launch SVoice box. Control Apps: turn off(use voice commands to control device. . Step 2) Install Home2 Shortcut from the Play Store . Step 3) Open Home2 Shortcut and configure it to launch the app of your choosing with a double tap of the home button. edited for Note 2 Step 3a) Open Home2 and under settings step 1 ....Choose Application --> Installed applications --> Voice Search --> OK Step 3b) Scrolled down to step 2 and selected "Short" Step 3c) Scrolled down to step .... Choose Home Application --> Touch Wiz home Step 3d) Scroll down to step 4 and click the "Close button" .... Clicked Home Shortcut --> Always --> Ok Now remember you will have to do this again if you do a hard reset or pull the battery as this will cause it to reset to s voice
Great replacement for S-Voice on my Galaxy S4 Works like a charm, but the user interface is a bit sketchy. *Make sure you set the double tap speed to "very fast" or "very very fast", otherwise your phone may hesitate when you single press the home button. This is due to the app waiting to see if you press the home button a second time for "tap speed" amount of time.
-Add (Long press of camera key > App)
Protect home button & volume button, access all setting quickly, speed booster.
