I've had this app... for a looooong time and it's completely solid. Everything works. If you're having a scanner issue the options are (confusingly) under the "Admin" section, and with some more advanced functionality (including scanner options!) under "Admin"→ "Other Preferences". Biggest functional annoyance is that you can't pick an (or any) ontology upon which to standardize genre. That entry is just a text field with parsing of similar generality. The dated interface is why I gave it 4/5.

This is an amazing app if you never have to change phones. I have over 1500 books in my app, a lot had to be added manually. I've contacted multiple people from book catalogue as well as the library thing and I've never received a response to my requests for help with the import. I'm sad to be uninstalling this app but I have to find another app that transfers easily or has people to respond when you need help.

This is one of those apps that just ALWAYS works. Never any issues. Never any problems. It just does what it says it does. I am a book-a-holic and buy way more books then I will ever have time to read. This app helps me to keep them organized. Not only to remember which I own (useful when at the book store and can't remember if I already bought a book or not), but I can also rate them, save notes and/or reviews to share with friends if they ask me what I thought of a given book. After scanning in about a 1,000 books, it is also nice to be able to save and transfer all that data to a new device each time I buy one. I'm telling you, rescanning every single one of my books again, would not be fun. If you are looking for something to organize your collection, this is it, PERIOD. I have used it for multiple years and have not had one single issue. Absolute homerun for the dev.

Glad you like it! As you say, doing regular backups and saving them elsewhere is very important!
