Display of tides for all German reference and connecting locations, as well as Dutch and Danish tidal locations.
Official German, Dutch, and Danish tides are displayed for the current year and, starting each autumn, also for the following year.
For Germany, the 5-day water level forecast from the BSH (Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency), the DWD (German Weather Service) coastal sea weather report, and official storm and strong wind warnings for the selected region are integrated. Precise weather forecasts from the DWD and Yr.no are also included. Warnings are issued for medium (orange wave) and high (red wave) swells. Nautical warnings from the BSH are also integrated; the app notifies users of new alerts.
In addition, sea kayakers and sailors using the Wattpaddler (a type of paddleboard) can calculate time windows for passing through shallow waters in the German Wadden Sea using the "rule of twelfths." This takes into account spring and neap tides as well as the water level forecasts for the next 5 days. The current water level is visualized as a sine wave. A default location can be saved for immediate display. For night navigation, the length of civil and nautical twilight, the current moon phase, and moonrise and moonset times are displayed.
Clear display of the elements of the North Sea Navigation Regulations important for water sports enthusiasts on a fully functional, accurate nautical chart based on BSH data.
Days corresponding to specific tidal conditions can be searched for, for example: "Evening high tide on a Sunday in June." Underlined words link to further functions, which are activated by tapping. For change history, see the website wattpaddler.de.
