Tides are displayed for all German reference and connection points, as well as Dutch and Danish tide locations.
Official German, Dutch, and Danish tide times are displayed for the current year and, starting in autumn, for the following year.
For Germany, the 5-day water level forecast from the Federal Office of Sea and Navigation (BSH), the German Weather Service (DWD) coastal sea weather report, as well as official storm and strong wind warnings for the selected region are integrated. Locally accurate weather forecasts from the DWD and Yr.no are provided. Warnings for medium (orange wave) and high (red wave) swells are also included. Nautical warnings from the BSH are also integrated; the app notifies you of a new report.
In addition, sea kayakers and sailors can use Wattpaddler to calculate time windows for passing a shallow in the German Wadden Sea using the "rule of twelfths." This takes into account spring and neap tides as well as water level forecasts for the next 5 days. The current water level is visualized using a sine curve. A default location can be saved for immediate display. For nighttime navigation, the length of civil and nautical twilight, the current moon phase, and moonrise and moonset times are displayed. The elements of the North Sea Navigation Regulations, which are important for water sports enthusiasts, are clearly displayed on a dynamic nautical chart. Days that correspond to specific tidal conditions can be searched for, for example, "evening high tide on a Sunday in June." Underlined words link to additional functions that are activated by tapping. For the change history, see the wattpaddler.de website.
