Sleep was once considered a very boring, static event with very little understanding of the underlying physiological benefit. While sleep deprivation is known to have a profound impact on mental and physical performance, there has been little interest in understanding the impact of repeated, acute sleep deprivation or phase shifted sleep on health and wellness.
There is a tremendous amount of research on sleep today! The work of many scientists around the world has uncovered the impact of sleep dysfunction on a great number of preventable chronic diseases. Diabetes and obesity are two of the major health challenges observed in individuals who suffer from sleep dysfunction due to prescription drugs, occupation and heredity.
While researching and writing his book, Eat Less, Sleep More, and Slow Down, Robert Hesslink Jr., Sc.D., became aware of the challenges related to sleep dysregulation. It was from this work that led him to develop with his son, Harrison Kent Hesslink, the EnerZ™ app.
This EnerZ™ app is designed to help you harness your perception of sleep in order to achieve better health, lose weight and perform at your best. The app guides you towards a better understanding of your nightly sleep habits by asking a series of questions. Your response to these questions is then used in a proprietary algorithm to calculate your sleep score. The Sleep Sheep™ score is then used to provide a daily recommendation for healthy living.
