About the English test and certficate

The EnglishScore test is delivered on a mobile phone, so it requires different security measures and rules.

We use security features such as face monitoring technology through your smartphone’s selfie camera. You must be alone in a quiet place with your whole face clearly in the camera during the test.

These rules help give you and organisations confidence that your results are accurate and reliable.

To take the test and purchase a certificate, you will need to turn on your test security.

Once the test is complete, EnglishScore awards you with an internationally recognised CEFR level from A2 to C1 and a more detailed score between 0 and 599 aligned to the CEFR framework. This is a recognised global standard for describing language levels. You can use your CEFR score to compare results with tests such as IELTS, TOEIC and TOEFL.

The British Council EnglishScore Professional Certificate is recognised by leading employers and education institutions around the world.

I used this app a year ago and it was great. But when I tried to take the test again, the app kept showing me an error message about the internet connection in the listening section. I know my connection was stable, but the app did not work properly. I could not finish the test and I wasted my time. Please fix this bug as soon as possible. Thank you.

It's such a shame that you cannot add a pre-made photo to your certificate : (( I have a good photo, which is in fact up-to-date, and of good quality, that I add to my CVs, and I do not have an opportunity to take a worthy picture now, at home (not so presentable as well), on my phone : ( Also a pity that the app is available in mobile version only. Unfortunately, not everyone has a good phone, which is not a hundred years old and not laggy : ( But the photo issue is the main reason for 3 stars

The app is great and I like it a lot, but your assessment aren't precise. It's too easy to choose a right answer because of only three options available. And I'm not complaining without reason, I personally experienced it. I just completed test and got C1, but I certainly know that I am between pre intermediate and intermediate. So, how it can be possible? It isn't about luck, it's because of possibility of choosing right answer too big, 33% and plus some answers obviously false.
