The app is much improved since it was originally released. It does the basics quite well. I like the photos it takes and it's relatively fast and reliable. Portrait mode is great and focus is fast and accurate. Still find there is a little delay between pressing the capture button and actually capturing a photo. This means I've missed the shot on a few occasions. Not terribly slow but enough to annoy on occasion. Overall experience is positive and I've not resorted to using a different app. Does only do the basics so some additional manual control would be nice.
This camera app can be pretty laggy at times. On a couple of occasions, I've taken a picture and the phone freezes. Home button unresponsive and entire OS was frozen, forcing me to do a hard reset. Other than that, not too much to complain about other than not having a panorama mode and the general lagginess
This camera app is fine. I don't care about that nit picky bs other people complain about. Someone here even complained about the camera ICON for chrissakes. Really?? Selfies washed out?? No. MINE look fine. Then again I'm not a teen girl posting selfies all day. Core functionality of this app is more than adequate for everyday needs.
Front facing camera still needs lots of work. It is basically useless as it stands right now. Have to rely on Google camera app to take decent selfie shots. Please address this as well as setting features which don't exist currently.
Ok so after a couple of months using this camera it is just plain awful. Horrible low light resolution. Lighting has to be perfect to get decent picture. Also a 5.7 inch screen and it feels like I'm taking a picture on 3 inch display Very disappointed. Not worth 7 or 5 hundred dollars 300 dollars max retail.
I laud the improvements and Essential deserves credit for that, but work still needs to be done. Lots of work has been done on the rear camera, but it seems like not much on the front camera. Compared to my OG Pixel it's night and day. Selfies are dark, blurry and washed out. Hoping for to see continued improvements.
