I HATE having to install other apps to unlock features. Like, I know the developer needs money, but why go through that? That's just dumb. Let me sit through a 5 minute ad if you want, that would be better than this method. Otherwise it's pretty good, I'm able to browse local files and files on my network. I don't particularly like the home screen thing, but an easy swipe to the left and you get local files.
I liked ES File Explorer better when it was just a file explorer. All these other things they've added in over the past number of updates, I feel aren't necessary. Smart charge? Unused apps? Overheating CPU? I'd rather have separate apps for that. Don't be that app that gives unnecessary notifiations. Just go back to being a file explorer and stay that way.
Used this app for years. Got worried with all the bloatware but the final straw was network connectivity (SMB) to read my home file shares, working without hitch for years, now requires you to install another bloatware app (not even related to ES functionality) to activate! Coercion at it's worst. Uninstall and not even bothering to look at PRO because of the idiocy of the authors.
The best of the best! Just Little update:I don't know why, but my Samsung device manager is reporting that file explorer is giving proximate 33 error per week, which slow my device, so I need to put in in sleep mode until the next time I need to open it.. Just let you know about it! :)
Used to really like this app and have used it years. Unfortunately this app has seen a lot of feature creep recently. Tries to do far too much, with too many unneeded and distracting notifications, features, and full screen advertisements. I don't want a file manager to show me advertising every time I unplug my power cord. Nor should a file Explorer try and manage night mode, CPU temperature, or other things not related to managing files.
Too many and too pervasive ads. I don't know if this helps convert users over to the paid version better, but it's a real turn-off for me. Best file explorer there is, and I was going to pay for it after seeing all the features, but I can't get with what you guys are doing.
I'm reducing my rating for this wonderful app AGAIN. The fact that I love the basic file management function that can access network shares with relative ease doesn't mean I want all the other bloated functions the devs are trying to integrate. The swipe feature is annoying as hell if not turned off after an install. It keeps popping up even when your playing a game. Marshmallow users beware that this can cause an problem with the App Overlay issue (draw over other apps). I have to uninstall and reinstall just so I could let other apps be given permission.
Used to love the app but it has become far far too intrusive. Floating widget annoys the hell outta me, power usage and RAM warnings are annoying and the lock screen is a waste of time. It's all bloat the app doesn't need. It's a good file manager, stick to that. I've turned the features off I don't like but they should be optional extras, not on by default.
I liked this app for the file manager side of things but my god! Does the other stuff it has as part of it just get in the way. Some of it you can turn off but the one annoying thing is the little file icon that randomly pops up on screen. I've looked to try and turn that off but with no joy. Why the developers thought it necessary to have an icon on screen that does nothing more than diatract you from what you are doing, and annoy as a result, I'll have no idea. As a result of these issues I have removed the app.
It adds an advertisement to your unlock page. Instant uninstall. It doesn't matter how good the app is. An app could give me free beer and money and I'd uninstall it for doing that. The ad even covers up the controls when my alarm went off this morning.
Great app. Have used it for a long time. Any issues have been worked out in regular updates. Keep it up. I'm deleting this app after all this time because it has just gotten too bloated and intrusive. You're letting YOUR GREED ruin what was once a fantastic app. WAKE UP...It's not ALL about money...😦😣😢
This was the best app at one point of time. Now it just has too many annoying adds and extra app icon that it places on the home screen which can be deleted though. Anyway, parting ways with ES after 5 years. There are better alternatives that are not intrusive like ES. RIP ES File Manager.
Once upon a Time this was a great, light app that let me find files and folders on my devices and my home network. That was it and life was good. Now it's a bloated, congested spam fest of analyzers and managers that get in the way of what I want an app like this for. Disappointed.
This app has become such unnecessary bloatware/adware it's insane! This app wants to completely consume you with advertisements on a daily basis. Anytime I see strange actions or advertisements it's because of this worthless app! Way to push people away from your app. UNINSTALLING!!
I just delete the app. I was using this app since I got the Nexus 3, and now it's totally different app. Tons of advertisement and always trying to take control of your cell phone give you redicules amount of necessary and useless advise.
Your application is file explorer, so built your application like usual file explorer. Your additional features like battery charging info or shortcut setting with swipe is very annoying. You can separate them into different application
Absolutely terrible, instrusive, piece of bloatware. This software was useful once upon a time, now it's just a really annoying bloatware up. It's like the modern day Bonzi buddy for android. Hope the company goes under.
It's a shame but I'm going to remove this app after many years of use. I hadn't realised that the intrusive homepage ads had come from this app. Plus other bloatware I don't care for nor asked for. Goodbye old friend.
I've had every Galaxy S phone since the first till the S8 and ES file explorer would be one of the first apps I'd install. But recently it's nothing but bloatware and too intrusive. So now I hate to say it I'm uninstalling because I really don't like how it's loaded all these random apps on my phone without my permission. Unacceptable.
Used to be superb... Says CPU overheated and it's not, shows 39°C.... Beware Total SCAM ! esfm crawler causing high CPU usage without even opening the APP and OVERHEATING if you're doing your business using another app. Seeking alt. APP to this one. ES: why do you even dare to ask rating when your're being so LOUSY atm. Also disregarded notification setting KEEPS WARNING me about youtube creating 50 MBs of cache... RIDICULOUS lousy programming. High CPU usage of bg process efsm, can eat 30% of battery in normal usage cycle. Still having problems.
There is a developing problem with this app, ads and trying to do to much. I have used this app for years without a problem. Lately they have added ads, tried adding functionality, and I don't appreciate either one. You had a superior product and now it's turning into a mediocre app. I am looking for other solutions now.
I really love this app. Really powerful. Amazing features. But, and I have to say, ads are becoming a bit irritating. I understand profit, but what good is sugar for attracting flies when there is a fly swatter looming? Toss the swatter, and you'll keep the flies!!
Way, WAY too much bloatware, too many pop-up ads, and all kinds of extra unnecessary "features" that want to take over and "manage" your device. If you're looking for a simple, functional file manager, this DEFINITELY isn't it.
Happily using the app when it took me here to rate it. You can have 3 stars now. Edit. Now removed this spam/bloatware from all my devices. ES Global have lost the plot and just shower you in notifications. The latest notification was to use their app, which seems to run continuously in background, to help lower battery consumption of err background apps.
What is this es team... I have 7 times uninstalled and again install this app... Its showing overlay problem every time so to grant permission to other app i must have uninstall this... But i love this app so my mind force me to again install to it... Pl. Resolve this overlay issue.... I dont want to uninstall it now and never....
Used to be awesome. Now it's more difficult to use because it keeps trying to funnel me into using all their add-on utilities, and it keeps harassing me via notifications about the space on my phone and the CPU usage etc.. Using language like "Phone is overheating".. I don't need bloaty nagware, I just need a good file system browser. You guys blew it. Uninstalling.
It may be the best file explorer but...BUT all the bloat and advertising and forcing you to install stuff to get access to things is destroying this file managers reputation... We want a functional explorer with network capabilities that is not a glorified Christmas tree with traps built into it. Its only a matter of time before I find a replacement which I will recommend to other users....
Disclamer: I'm still using an older Samsung Ace 3. My issues may not reflect on newer models (as much), but my main complaint is certainly valid across the field. All this feature creep over time, has changed this app from being one of my favourites, one that I'd advise anyone to install, to a pure annoyance. Lately, I've been getting a lot of CPU and battery warnings from ES File Explorer, and after looking into it, it turned out the app itself is largely to blame for the heavy usage... I just want an app to browse my files, you know, a FILE EXPLORER...
Great app, makes organising and managing files much easier. EDIT : With updates in the last few months, the app has added several features that are quite unnecessary and just make file management more troublesome. Also, it's not possible to encrypt files on an SD card anymore.
Like so many other reviewers, I'm very unhappy with the latest updates. This used to be a useful app. I guess it still is useful, technically, but it's become more annoying than anything else. I don't want a thumbnail of my latest file constantly showing in a bubble on my screen, especially since it usually appears directly over my camera shortcut. I don't want constant notifications about CPU usage or battery temperature, especially since those features seem incredibly inaccurate. And I do not want a new screensaver. Most of all, I don't want an app that automatically adds all of those features. I just want an app that allows me to see, move and delete files on my phone. I'll be searching for a new one. Hopefully all of these negative reviews from unhappy users will serve as a wake-up call so these issues can be fixed. I appreciate ES File Explorer for its basic function, but I won't use it as it is now.
Best android file manager I have ever used. One more thing... Please add a feature "auto advance to next video in folder" when playing videos from LAN. Currently it stops after playing the selected video.
