Review from A Google User
On-demand / offline viewing. Needs on-demand viewing of a missed program, and the ability to cache/download a program for viewing later when offline, or have poor or intermittent signal such as when travelling. Also needs pause, seek and slow-motion/step-through. Streaming quality is surprisingly good even over 3G. This app has plenty of room for improvement, and it needs to improve fast if people are paying. More stars when it does. Ps. And still no option for cycling push notifications in the new version (2013-01-11), but the others seem to have disappeared! :-( Pps. I will not renew until offline viewing is added!
When a have a poorish signal this is constantly buffering! I'm no advocate of piracy but it's on YouTube and gives a stable 720p!! No progress bar anymore to search or 30 second advance button. Also the option to lower quality (at least you could get nearer stable video) has gone too.
Unacceptable App for a very good service like Eurosport. It is a shame to provide this App. Update 22/09/2017: honestly there are no words to describe how poor is this app after the latest update. The streaming is jumping up and down making any sport event just a nightmare. Last US Open has been impossible to see and after 1 month still the same. The worst app I have ever used.
Bundesliga Stream on Chromecast very bad. Some scenes are repeated continously, some scenes (e.g. Goals) are skipped. I stopped watching because a Football match can't be watched under this horrible conditions! Worst experience ever!
LATEST VERSION IS A STEP BACK BOTH USER INTERFACE AND STABILITY MOSTLY IT JUST DOESN'T WORK. SHAME ON EUROSPORT, ESP TESTING. The average free media player can display streaming content without random lock-ups and crashes. This is a paid app from major broadcaster so should be on the same level as BBC iPlayer or BTSport player. Save your money as it falls below basic capabilities.
New version is a mess in terms of stability and usability. Sometines I need to kill the app, cold start to see live events, disconnecting quite often and sometimes it's just force closing. The worst bug: forgetting my login and I need to login to the app again.
This has just updated to the latest version, like many people I am getting the message "not available in your country". Access to location services seems to be the issue, but even when I have it enabled, it still does not work. I have since the update, accessed Eurosport player via Chrome on my PC, I subscribed directly with Eurosport rather than through Google play, and can now cast to my TV. I have also reinstalled the app on my android phone, however access to the service is at best suspect. Sometimes it works fine, I can login with no problems, other times I get the "Not available in your country" message. I am using an Android phone with Kit-Kat 4.4 OS, my wife also runs an Android phone with Kit-Kat 4.4 OS and has none of these problems. If Eurosport are changing the way that you pay for the service, why not inform the customer, rather than let them struggle. I have worked in IT for more years than I wish to admit, I struggled to work around this problem. However If I can figure it out, why are the customers not being kept up to date. Very good via PC, OKish via Android, lousy customer service.
