It has a neat, simple design that I appreciate. It's also fast and functional enough. I just wish they included the ability to play videos directly in chat, to view gifs not as still images, and to send videos in chat as I'm unable to do so. Photo and video quality could also use some work despite compression. Links also don't open correctly and that's if they even open at all. I hope this gets rectified soon.
Appreciate that it's a small sized app. But it puts in fake messages from my friends, which they haven't actually sent (like a wave smiley). So technically this app is more of a bot and a spyware. I strictly discourage others from downloading it, because nobody wants to end up having a made-up conversation.
Biggest gripe I have with app is it doesn't link from Facebook. I stopped using the apps along time ago and use a adblocker webpage instead which used to allow me to check messages directly. Now whenever the option to message someone is required it sends me to the messenger app within the playstore to download. Finding contacts within the app is fairly easy but a pain and the constant alert for you to check Facebook is annoying too. Overall
Crashed three or four times on first launch, then reactivated my Facebook account without notifying me (only knew it happened via automated email from Facebook). Deactivated my account again and opened the app, and now it's logged me out. You're able to use Messenger with a deactivated Facebook account, so why can't I use Messenger Lite in the same situation?
It's much better than the default Messenger app, for sure, but it could still be better. I keep getting notifications that I have a new message, but when I click on the Lite app, there is no such message. I click to make the notification go away, and it comes right back. Rather annoying, because you don't know when their legitimately IS a new, unread message.
Works well, I much prefer it to the regular messenger. However, on my SGS5, my screen flickers and has trouble turning on with this app installed. Sometimes it takes a minute of just tapping the power button to get the screen to turn on. The problem goes away after an uninstall and a restart.
