About this app

Your body makes beautiful sounds. But what are they trying to say? What if your phone could record these sounds and turn them into digital visualizations? And what if you could score these sounds on a scale from 1 to 100, and share your scores with friends? With Fartr, all of that is now possible.

Once you install the Fartr app, just press record at the perfect moment, and three magical things will happen:

* You’ll see your farts Using the world’s first, fart-based algorithm, Fartr delivers a distinct, snowflake-like visualization based on each fart’s volume, length, pitch, and meter.

* You’ll get a FartrScore™ Each fart generates a unique FartrScore from 1 to 100, also based on Fartr’s patent-pending algorithm. Can you notch a 99? Was that an unlucky 13? Fartr ranks your sweet sounds.

* You’ll understand your farts Like most people, you wonder what your farts are trying to say. Fartr provides a short, written assessment based on each fart's algorithmic attributes. Was that a flute, or a tuba? Was that one fart, or two farts holding hands? Fartr breaks it down.

* Bonus: Like real farts, your results are shareable. Create a profile and send your results easily to friends or family. Of course, you can also save your wonderful achievements and visit them alone, like a room of secret trophies.

Most of all, have fun. If anyone calls it potty humor, just remember: farts were funny long before the the invention of the toilet. And you’re beautiful.

Fartr. It’s the official app of the body positive movement.

This app is a shining example of how to take a great idea and implement it badly. Good: Record, analyse and play back your farts, with a cool animated guage-like chart. Bad: You have to be connected to the Internet to save your recordings. This is totally pointless, as the online playback functionality is broken: the animation of the chart doesn't run. (There's only a static inage and audio playback isn't reliable.) Also, it gives no list of criteria used to calculate the score.

Thanks for the feedback, Nigel! We'll look at adding support for offline use in a future update. Meanwhile, you can read here what we can share about our proprietary algorithm used to calculate the score: http://fartrapp.com/faq. Keep on farting!

This app is great. Now I'm not ashamed to keep doing what I've already been doing since smart phones were invented ;-) I have definitely been cut off though mid recording. Anyway to lengthen the amount of recording time, or keep it from stopping the recording while it's still receiving sound would be great.

RIP Fartr. It was fun while it lasted but we're coming up on 2 years without an update - safe to say it's dead. App had lots of potential! Wish it had a dark or blacked out theme. Needed an option to change the email address linked to my account. Some sorting & tagging options in the fart locker would have also been cool.
