The SunRail mobile app (Android) relative to other transit apps across the US gets the job done of paying a fare. I like the ability to store money in an account. The app is often unresponsive / slow and lacks functionality like planning a trip that involves more than just the train (i.e. integration with Google Maps). Also missing train status which used to be in a separate app but that app no longer exists. I do like the emailed receipt. I give it 4 stars because it gets the job done.

Mobile tickets are proving to be incredibly convenient. They're truly hassle-free as you don't have to worry about tapping them in or out—simply activate them within the app itself. From personal experience, I can confidently say that the most effective way to maximize your overall savings is by taking advantage of the Sun Card feature. You can easily load value onto the Sun Card through the app and then purchase round trip passes.10% to the amounts you add to the card & round trip discounts!

The app is very easy to navigate as well as convenient. I always have my ticket with me because nobody leaves their phone behind. Being able to save your payment method is great for quick purchases. You can have multiple passes at one time, which is great for me cause sometimes I work from home, so I don't need to use my weekly pass but can get a round-trip on the day I go to the office.
