Saved My N7 (2012}! Thanks SO MUCH! Had long since stopped using my Nexus 7 due to extreme lag, but I missed the big screen GPS that's become a rare feature in cheap tablets these days. Stumbled across a similar app and decided to give this better rated app a try (it had been so long I couldn't remember if the N7 had been rooted - thankfully yes). Ten seconds after running it, 97MB had been cleared from /cache and my N7 was its old self again! Can't believe that's all it took, but I'm so happy I'm not complaining! Thank you!!
So, while I'm no longer a noob, I'm far from advanced. I guess you could say I'm an "advanced noob", lol. I was recently given an old Alcatel one touch 5020T for parts, as I build lots of "nerd toys"; high powered lasers, Tesla coils and what not, so people give me stuff. I powered it on, boot time wasn't bad, but all functions were slow as frozen molasses. 60-90 seconds in some cases. Your app appeared under "reduce lag". Magic! New phone! I doff my imaginary hat, were I wearing one, to the devs.
Usually I'm too lazy to write reviews for apps. But on a whim I downloaded this app for my rooted htc one s running jellybean. I was ready to take a hammer to this phone for how frustratingly buggy and slow it was. I was angry because I refused to believe a dual core processor with a gig of ram would actually be this slow when I only use it for some web browsing and Facebook. This app fixed everything. Something about trimming not part of Android until later causes the system to slow down over time. Ran the app once. Took about a minute. Since that time the phone had been smooth and snappy. Wow. Anyone running jellybean or older should have this app.
More noticeable on older Androids I ran this first on a OnePlus One with 3gb RAM & 64gb storage space built in, Cyanogen OS 13.1.2. Didn't notice a change in things either way but suspected since the OPO was running well not much could be done to tangibly improve it so I installed on a Galaxy Nexus Prime, about 10 years old, just under 1gb RAM, 16gb storage space in total also running Cyanogen (Mod) 13 albeit at full throttle and starting to struggle to perform the basics. One run of this and it was like a new phone. Seriously impressed!!
Terrific and works automatically once set unlike certain of trim apps that claim they do. ASUS Infinity is usable again. Now if I could just reboot it without taking 15 minutes to load it would be wonderful. Update since flashing Timduru's excellent Nougat rom just like new. Terrific Trim Technology.
This is the fix. It takes a minute or two to run but it's worth it. Similar to defragging a hard drive. It just cleaned things up. My N7 was nearly unusable, it was so laggy and slow and frankly I was a bit mad that my not so old device was almost a paper weight. Trim helped a lot and since i like my tablet again...I've since rooted it, installed clockworkmod and currently run a cyanogenmod 12 nightly ROM and that made so good it feels like I bought a new tablet all together. Awesome!
