Does not do what it says I bought this so I could read in the middle of the night with minimal effect on my sleep/wake cycle. Contrary to what's claimed, this app does not filter colors. Instead, it mixes a solid color of your choice with the entire screen. So rather than, say, black and white turning to black and red, as it would with a true red filter, instead you get a low contrast scheme: red and slightly darker red. The author's own screenshot (second one) shows what I mean.
Works great! Minor issue though. This app does everything I want it do and quite well at that. Only thing that bugs me is that the app doesn't have an icon. When I install it the app icon is the Android bug with the development box. Edit: fixed, awesome!
What I wanted! Trying to use star app and stopwatch function to time photos was killing my night vision. Thought there might be an app...sure enough this was exactly what I wanted.
I thought this was brilliant, until I found Twilight The whole navbar at the bottom of every screen is not filtered. Painful. Further, you can't combine the darkness filter (dimming) with the color filters. Both of these are solved by an app called Twilight.
Night vision maintained! This does exactly what I needed. I wanted to use my phone during sky observing sessions and while my astronomy app does have a night mode I needed my lock screen and other apps to be dim as well. I still use another app to turn off my soft touch keys but that Samsung's problem I think (setting removed on note 5...).
Works great! I tried the Twilight free app and came back to Sunset. I don't care for ads and if I'm going to spend the money, I'd rather it go to true enthusiasts. Sunset works great for night sky watching. For those less knowledgeable about constellations may want to fire up your star map app to find out what you're looking at. Of course you don't want the bright screen to ruin your "already adjusted to the dark" eyesight. However any menu buttons located at the top of screen are partial blocked by a dark bar.
