About this app

Reliable weather forecasts for astronomers with an emphasis on cloud cover.

Features include:

• Seven day hourly forecasts, updated hourly.
• Low, medium, high and total cloud cover.
• Moon rise/set times and phase.
• Sun rise/set and transit.
• Civil/nautical/astronomical darkness.
• International Space Station (ISS) pass-over information.
• Location search automatically provides a forecast for your location.
• Save favourite locations for easy access.
• Covers daytime too so also useful for solar observers/imagers.

Updated hourly. Frequent hourly updates are important because often the clear spell between showers provides excellent seeing and 30-minutes under a clear sky with a grab-&-go telescopes is pure gold!

Did you notice the ISS pass-over information? The times are precisely calculated for your location and displayed alongside the cloud forecasts so it has never been easier to observe. It is our favourite feature :-)

Also includes regular weather data (wind, rain, frost, temperature, dew point, etc) so perfect for those wanting a detailed weather forecast, without cutesy graphics.

We have had a lot of fun building and testing Clear Outside and are keen to to develop it further so if you find it useful or have suggestions, please let us know.

Initially, great for weather data. Has no settings to make changes, or to delete saved locations. Use it for current location only. Don't save any locations, as you will not be able to get rid of them, or make corrections in Lat / Long. There is no way to get rid of or update home location in UK. I'm using Samsung, Android tablets and phone. The app has not been updated since 2015, and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one. More than likely will uninstall.

A very useful tool, but lacks a few critical details. A legend of sorts would be nice(is the wind in mph or km/s? Who knows!) it would also be nice to be able to set units to your preference. I know SI is Celsius, but for the air temperature, Fahrenheit is the superior unit. The saved location function is un-intuitive, but if you are willing to use your latitude and longitude, it does work well enough. Free is nice, but I would be willing to pay for a more polished app.

Useful, but dated interface. The concept is great. the execution is so-so. But the truly annoying issue is that the location defaults to the software creator's headquarters somewhere in Great Britain. I should be able to tell the app where I want the default location to be. Fix this one thing and you'll have s much better app.

There has always been a way to change this - add your desired location as a saved location in the locations tab, and tick the option to make it your default home location :-)

What's new

Fixed a display issue when a non standard default font size was set in display settings.
