Review from Hope Larocque
Synced first try.. Yeah.. The app works with my Samsung Rugby Smart phone through Google Play and bluetooth. This is great and will help a lot. I am new to fitbit but so far I love it. No matter what phone you have, this might work for others too.
1. Synchronisation is bad. 1.1. Sometimes I need either to restart FitBit Surge or restart Android application. Because either synchronisation takes much time and is finally unsuccessful or it simply cannot synchronise with FitBit Surge. 1.2. After Synchronisation I need to wait some time until synchronised data appears in the app. Usually up to one minute after finishing synchronisation. It seems that data is uploaded to server first and only then updated in app. But these are unreasonable delays from the end user side. 2. Today after I closed application and opened it again (because I couldn't synchronise) application requested me to login again... Why? It has never happened before... I have been logged in before I just closed and opened app.
This new update is making the app unusable after few days. Already reinstalled the app few time. App will not start after a day or 2. This is nuts. After weeks the problem is still not fixed. Dropping to 1 star. Its getting ridiculous. Thinking of changing from fitbit. I should get my money back.
I've only been using it for one day and I love it so far! I just upgraded from the Polar F7 and have found this app and my Fitbit Alta HR very easy to understand and navigate so far. I was very surprised to see that the Fitbit can identify the type of exercise I was doing. I did 45 minutes on my elliptical and it recorded it as such without me having added the type of exercise I did. It also accurately recorded the time I went to bed and the time I woke up. Knowing my sleep patterns and whether or not I'm getting the right amount of each sleep stage is something I know will be very helpful. Pretty impressed so far!
I love my Fitbit, but the app is not reliable. With every update, I must mess around trying to get it to sync. VERY annoying! 31 Oct: another update, no sync as usual. Really?20 Nov: ANOTHER update, guess what? Sync????!!!!! New year, another update, same s--t. 6 May: Bring back the old dashboard!!! June: new update, sync issues. Sigh. The incredible sucky-ness of this app continues. Now it is deleting steps. Seriously?
Excellent app but recently bought a new phone (huawei p9) and the website says that its not compatible with my tracker. HOWEVER, I downloaded the app to use it simply as a food log (I have another device which I can use if it didnt work), and surprise surprise, it synced!! In fact it syncs better and faster than I ever expected. So either its a fluke or the website hasnt updated its latest compatible phone models. Dont lose hope!!
I really like this app. Especially the challenges in Yosemite. I wish there were more of these I've done them all and NYC doesn't interest me too much. Also when you pass a landmark it's really hard to read about it as the text doesn't appear for long and it's hard to dunderhead spot where I comes up. I really like the sleep tracking. I find it really helpful to identify what impacts on my sleep. I do wish it would pick up when you're doing strength training but I don't know if that would be possible. I have an Alta and a HTC have no issues with syncing or crashing.
