Review from Jonathan Ayling
Disappointing Hard to use and no option to change units to km and kg, so almost useless for me.
Great idea but slow and buggy The idea behind Fitocracy is great: use gamification to motivate you to workout. You can level up, do quests, and see how you compare to others. The selection of workouts are good and the point system gives you a good idea of how you're progressing. However, I have found the app buggy and slow. For example, I must restart the app almost everyday because the current date is incorrect. I will continue using this app because of its concept, but the Fitocracy website is much better than the app.
App itself great, functionality not so much I've been using this on and off for a few weeks. The app itself is fine, doesn't crash or glitch on me. My issue is the functionality and decision making of the design. It seriously lacks logical flow and things I would think be in one place are actually in a completely different one. Example: Naming my workouts is a workout by itself. To me this should be a choice within the workout, not a separate step tucked away in a corner menu. Took me a while to figure it out and I use lots of different apps.
Favorite weight app, but... The Facebook connection is for posting and logging in. Don't expect to see or compete with your Facebook friends in app (like you might in a bike app). It's also pretty bad at saving the name of any of my specific workouts. Other than that, quick, easy and effortless logging!
It's okay, limited exercises compared to others It's cool having the social platform where people can ask questions and whatnot. But the exercise library could be expanded. Also they should change all of the exercises to have the option of adding weight to the activity. Crunches on a ball, can't add weight, dips can't add weight. Just make everything have that option.
Riddled with bugs Its a great motivator in my opinion, simple to use BUT a large percentage of pictures of the workouts don't load when searching for exercises, and I've found that despite tracking a workout, some logs don't even get saved. I'll tack a workout and see all the points, but by the next day the entire workout is gone
Update: This version no longer seems to be maintained by the developer. It's been 6 months without a patch and known bugs are staking up. I cannot recommend this app on Android in it's current condition. Old: Great for tracking exercise, doesn't have intrusive ads, simple UI, web service backed. The 2.0 version brought a faster-to-use UI.
