struggles to load images in my albums. that's the whole point of the app? also, apparently you can't download images from mobile web, just the app and the desktop site, yet, the app is buggy and frequently won't load. as I type this, I realize there is absolutely 0 reason to continue using Flickr in modern times if the only reliable UI is the desktop website (which crashed for a week in July)

Not very innovative. I went with Flickr because it's an old company, but they make it so unreasonably hard to upload a research portfolio, even when you're paying monthly. It would be nice to batch edit 10,000 photo descriptions, copyright, and privacy. It would be nice if they had a decent API that was maintained to upload with Linux and PC. Even when it does work, it takes 2-8 seconds each.

The old app was at least functional: auto-upload didn't always work, but the option was there and it worked occasionally. This latest app is nothing more than a shortcut to the website - in desktop mode! - and doesn't save your credentials, or have any of the mobile features, including auto-upload. I'm up for renewal this month - I will absolutely be finding a new service.
