This App does not seem to support multiple shelves. I like to shelf my books by author with multiple shelves showing in a grid. This Reader appears to only support one shelf and wants to put all your books on that shelf, reminds me of the Kindle carousel which was a huge fail because anyone picking up your Kindle could see everything. Not happy. I am still trying to find a replacement for the original NOOK library HD version and so far it has been a wash. Also this reader does not have a very good margin controller. I like the edge to edge readability the HD NOOK had. Fix these things and I will buy the pro version of this in a sec.
I read a lot with this app on my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. It has a wealth of functions, among which I greatly appreciate the easy adjustment of screen brightness by sliding your finger up or down along the left side of the screen, and the ease of highlighting (and different types of highlighting). I was able to adjust the text appearance exactly as I like it. I don't regret in any way paying for the Pro version, although somehow the UI became more sluggish in the Pro version, compared to the free one, when trying to access settings and when returning from a book to the library/recents screen. But this doesn't affect in any way the speed of page turning, so it's a minor thing. I have recently tried to explore ebook readers for iOS because the one I bought several years ago doesn't have highlighting and has ugly fonts, and found to my surprise that there is no decent third-party ebook reader (haven't explored Kindle); so on iOS, one would be stuck with iBooks (which isn't so bad though). This app basically becomes one of the anchor apps that make me unable to leave Android :). The dev should explore porting his app to iOS. :)
Amazon HD fire 8, Every time i try to changer the on screen tapping areas an error pops up saying: "This device hasn't hardware menu key, please tap middle of the screen for options". This, to me, makes the app unusable because i can't use it with the default areas. It's a shame because i would have loved to purchase the full version and recommend it to friends as i enjoy most of it's other aspects. I hope this will be fixed soon so i can maybe install it again and enjoy it more.
too many ads. i don't want any disturbance while choosing the books. but i found a way to avoid those ads by turning my WiFi off earlier i was using very old (1 year old may be) version that was very dull and boring. i kept the app because it was very light weight and simple and so easy to use(it's still easy though). i updated this app, now its has colour (not dull like older version)and it looks good. my only problem is ads. function wise there is no match for this app
I still can't get the grasp the latest version. Please help me as i don't see any visual setting option in new version. Where is it? How to set the night reading mood and fix the brightness? And also how to make the pages turn rather than slide side by side? Please let me know .
I tested this reader while looking for a replacement for Fbreader as it has become very dated. This was the not the best in all things tested but the best in average. For example the English translation is extremely poor but on the other hand it has good options and is fast enough. Colordict is well integrated. It doesn't need strange permissions like some readers.
