About this app

This app is for use with the MedAIRE breath test device in collaboration with your doctor. If you bought a device yourself (such as through foodmarble.com, Amazon or Best Buy), then please search for the "AIRE by FoodMarble" app.

MedAIRE allows you to measure the level of hydrogen on your breath from the comfort of your own home. The FoodMarble Healthcare app records the results of your breath tests and shares them instantly with your healthcare provider. Using this information your healthcare provider can create the treatment plan that’s right for you.

MedAIRE tracks the level of fermentation happening in your small and large intestine. Fermentation happens when your gut bacteria breakdown undigested food. Tracking it allows your healthcare provider to detect the presence of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and carbohydrate malabsorption.

SIBO TESTING. SIBO is when you have greater amounts of bacteria than normal in your small intestine. When these bacteria breakdown undigested food, hydrogen and other gases are generated. Fermentation normally happens later in your large intestine. But when it happens sooner it may trigger digestive symptoms.

CARBOHYDRATE MALABSORPTION TESTING. Carbohydrate malabsorption occurs when the body is unable to fully digest or absorb certain food components. If these sugars reach your large intestine they can be fermented by your gut bacteria. While fermentation is healthy, if it occurs rapidly and starts to build up, it can lead to digestive symptoms.

Ratings and reviews

Not terrible app, but the food tracking needs a lot of work. The selections in the database are very limited and I often can't find foods. There is the option to "add a barcode" but you can't actually add any information about the food. There is also a bug where if you add a food, it will prompt you to put in the amount but it doesn't save and defaults to Ounces. E.g.Put in 10 grams and it changes to 10 oz. I have to go back and edit meals every time.

breath testing is simple. however, every time I try to log a meal, the app shuts down. tried uninstalling then reinstall but that didn't help. makes it hard to relate results to things I have eaten

While the app gives good instructions on how to use their breath analyzer device, there are no results or indications that you have been successful in accomplishing your test. I believe the app should report the raw data. the data is clearly present.
