I have loved this app for years and had many, MANY friends purchase it in addition to myself because of how wonderful that had been for allowing others to connect via Wi-Fi. But apparently it no longer has support for nougat. Specifically Verizon (they said). However the company "Data Sharing" from the developers over at "Awake Idea" have it working flawlessly. Sad. If go back in a second but it's alarming that FoxFi would make such a definitive statement, closing the door to the greatest feature that they had to offer. Guess most of us will have to make the switch. *I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running nougat.
It’s been a great 6 years using this app, and it has gotten me out of quite a bit of sticky situations when there was a lack of a home connection for me. Unfortunately my Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be upgraded to Android 7, and this app will no longer be supported. I really wish there was a way around it so I can still use it(Wi-Fi mode) , but I just think it’s out of the developers hands at this time. So, thanks again for this wonderful app. Maybe I can use again in the future, who knows!!!
Foxfi is probably the app I use 2nd most often behind Chrome. The internet signal in my house isn't strong enough to get picked up in my room, one story below the office where the modem is plugged in. Instead of installing a repeater and thanks to being grandfathered into an unlimited mobile data plan I've had since waaayy back in the day, I use Foxfi to enable my phone's mobile hotspot, and viola, Internet access for my ipad and laptop...surprisingly fast speeds too even when 3 devices are connected and being used for surfing/downloading. Also, it's extremely reliable. Nearly no tech issues experienced, even following major software updates by verizon that attempt to combat Foxfi's ability to circumvent their mobile hotspot restrictions. I would offer criticism if I had any, but all I have are good things to say. PLEASE DON'T EVER CHANGE OR GO AWAY!! -I forgot to mention that I bought the Key and it is without a doubt well worth it.
Great app! I have been using this to avoid website filters at work for years. It has been such a life saver, and always works like a charm. I even used it to avoid buying Internet for my apartment for a year when money was tight. Great to have on trips too when others need wifi. Just be careful if you have limited data, you can chew through it pretty fast if you tether a laptop.
Well, I am preventing my Note 5 from updating to 7.0 Nougat on Verizon, so I am still using Foxfi. Gonna keep it this way for now. Although, the new data plan at Verizon is $80 for unlimited and 10g of hotspot now - about what I am currently paying on the grandfathered unlimited plan I have had now for several years. I suppose I may let my phone update and go for the new plan. Was a good run, wasn't it! All good things must come to an end.
Bug fixing updates.
Finding and connecting securely to XFINITY WiFi hotspots has never been easier.
