About this app

Welcome to the Audio Guide of the Francke Foundations in Halle. Here you can discover the Francke Foundations on your own. We offer two guided tours in both German and English.

The guided tour "Historic Orphanage" guides you through the main building of the foundations, its history, the permanent exhibitions, and the only fully preserved Cabinet of Art and Natural Curiosities from the Baroque era to be found in Europe. Tickets can be purchased at the Information Centre (House 28), from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10 am and 5 pm.

The guided tour "Educational Cosmos Francke Foundations" directs you on a walkabout through the building ensemble of August Hermann Francke’s "School Town" (Schulstadt). It presents the unique buildings, including the longest half-timbered house of that era and the earliest surviving free-standing, purpose built library. The tour provides an insight into the current Educational Cosmos of the Francke Foundations by means of a history of its former utilisation. This guide to the premises is free of charge and can be benifited from at all times.
