Great app that does what it says. My biggest problem: the recorded track is very glitchy if there was a pause or temporary GPS signal loss (basically always). The app draws many random straight lines across the track, which makes it close to unreadable. It looks like this: i.snag.gy/IEoFhN.jpg The bug is old, too! And it is not fixed in 2.1 preview.
I've been using the pro version of this for some time now and find find it very useful. It doesn't kill the battery in my phone and it's fairly easy to load in your gpx files from external sources. Recently the Open Cycle Map doesn't display properly. It has "API KEY REQUIRED" written all over it.
Used on a back country backpacking trip with cached maps and it worked extremely well! (Google Maps doesn't when you go offline, which is going to be the case when you are far outside cell coverage, let alone a 4G data signal.) The oversized controls option also made it easy to use while hiking. Didn't drain battery as badly as I feared it might, either. Having both hybrid aerial and terrain zoomable maps was awesome!
Used for horse riding, it's works well for me. Still sorting out some of its capabilities as I'm no tech head. Records tracks, times and stat's that are useful. I recommend it.
I'm using as a navigator for dirt biking in the forest. So far using open topo maps it's proven to be quiet good. The download of the maps can sometimes be slow which is possibly to do with the map provider but can be an issue if for example you've previously zoomed in on an area you'd think there's the possibility for the app to cache the map data. The compass view is unusable as the map shakes back and forth uncontrollably. Likewise I see lots of straight lines back to the start on each paused point of a track which just clutter's up the screen. Of the app's I've tried this is the best so far and I'll stick to using it, already bought the paid version. Hope it improves from a good app to great :-)
Love the resolution of the satellite imagery! Love having a large selection of map types. Still use it on my tablet. I'm disappointed I went to an iPhone for my cell, can't find My Trails for it. Have settled for Gaia, but not nearly as good of satellite clarity. , and have trouble importing all my past .gpx files.
