Measures sound. Doesn't try to be anything else. Perfection Odds are that you aren't getting absolute calibrated audio levels from this app but the relative values that it returns are accurate and consistent with itself. A distant church bell will always have the same audio level when measured from the same place. If you want something with a lot more functionality try "Spectroid" by Carl Reinke which is fully functional audio spectrum analyzer.

Excellent decibel app! Very impressed. Seems to be very accurate. Love the amount of user friendly features & ability to change settings easily. I've tried a few other sound decibel apps, but this is the best one I've used. I took off 1 star, due to the slight shakiness of the meter's "needle." Maybe it's supposed to be that way? And, when I tried to calibrate it...in a room with absolute no sounds, it messed with the performance, so I reinstalled it. Great app, overall. Thank you!

This is the only sound monitoring app I use on any phone. Others seem like they "adjust" to the level of sound, and even if I add noise they'll stay around 40-50db. This is the only one that doesn't seem to do that, and it will show me the peaks which seem to be quite accurate. This will definitely help protect you from hearing damage. Plus, the UI is the best I've seen; nice, basic, and easy to read quickly.
