Send electronic postcards to a Recipient, one-way. Typically, the senders are adult children, the Recipient an elderly parent.
Senders dispatch their postcards from smartphones using the Close-Knit App. The sender selects a photo, records a voice over, selects the recipient, and pushes 'Send'. This takes only a minute or two.
The recipient views the postcards on a tablet, converted into a single purpose Viewer by the Close-Knit app. The Recipient sees only portraits and postcards, only from authorized Senders.
When idle, the Viewer is a picture frame showing family portraits.
The Viewer signals a new postcard arrival by brightening the portrait of the sender until the postcard is viewed for the first time.
The Recipient imagines that postcards wait behind each portrait: Touch a portrait, and that person's postcard plays (or re-plays).
Close-Knit is designed to protect the Recipient's safety, the family's privacy, and to enable more and better communication through simplicity.
