The "Informative Podcasts" app is a podcast client with an integrated collection of informative and reputable podcast channels. You can listen to posts regardless of broadcast time or download them to your Android device.
The data sources are provided as RSS feeds by mostly public broadcasters so that they can be displayed in podcast clients – like this app.
Of course, there are no ads, no in-app purchases, no data snooping – it's all completely free. It has a small installation file and uses little memory on your device. Designed for tablets and suitable for phones.
The app was created by none of the aforementioned public broadcasters of the data sources, but rather by Ingo Schendel, a long-time radio listener and professional developer. The app developer also uses the application daily.

Note [2021-11-06]:
For compliance reasons, the name of the pre-installed data sources is no longer mentioned in the store listing, and the data sources are also obscured in the screenshots. The demo content shown in the screenshots is purely fictitious and is intended only to give an impression of the application's layout - you will, of course, find REAL content in the installed version of the app!
Update [2021-10-21]:
Please note: The app requires an internet connection. A default player must also be set up for MP3 playback. "Informative Podcasts" does not use its own player; you have the freedom to choose. I personally use the free VLC media player.
The app has been acting up a bit lately on my old Samsung Galaxy Tab A running Android 4.4. Everything runs smoothly on emulators running Android 5.1 (Lollipop) on the one hand, and on my new reference device running Android 10 (Lenovo Tab M8, TB8505X - the narrow-gauge version again).
Since there are no longer any security updates for older Android versions, I generally recommend switching to a device with the latest Android if you experience problems, or - if possible - installing the latest Android operating system on your device.
Update [2025-05-21]:
On a personal note: "I messed it up, but now everything's fine again."
Explanation: Google had tightened its guidelines for developers in the Play Store. Among other things, developers must prove their identity with an official photo ID if they want to publish apps on the Play Store.
Unfortunately, I missed the deadline due to carelessness. My app was kicked out of the Play Store in a flash! But as you can see, "Informative Podcasts" is back. That's because I identified myself with my valid ID card, etc.
To compensate you for any inconvenience, I'll be releasing an update soon. Look forward to it.
EN, note:
All the information sources are German Public Radio and only broadcast in German. All podcasts are only available in German, too. So if you don't understand German, it might not make sense to install this app.
