Luney is an 18+ social app for LGBTQIA+ people, built so you never have to choose between being yourself and being safe. Make a friend, post, join a live audio room, plan something or watch reels.
WHY LUNEY EXISTS
Most social apps are made for people who are already out and safe. Luney is made by queer people for the rest of us too: the person still in the closet, or the one whose phone was just taken.
👥 FIND YOUR PEOPLE
Add friends and keep a Circle for those you trust most. Direct messages carry photos, GIFs and reactions; swipe to reply, pin a message or a whole chat, and a draft is kept if the app restarts. Set yourself Online, Away, Do not disturb or Invisible; after ten idle minutes you are set to Away, and friends see a presence dot.
Groups are public or private, with posts, chat, members and custom emojis. Admins post a welcome and the rules on a Details tab. Moderators get slash commands; every ban, kick or mute needs a logged reason. @mentions and #hashtags work everywhere; search shows trending tags.
🎙️ LIVE LOBBIES
Lobbies are drop-in audio rooms. Raise a hand to talk and the host brings you on stage. Your group is notified when a room opens.
đź“… EVENTS
Events take RSVPs and show who is coming. A public event puts a card on the feed; a group event is visible only to members.
🎬 REELS
Add up to five text overlays, five stickers and an MP3 over the original sound. Each layer has its own track, trim and fade, and it is all written into the file on upload.
✨ EXPRESS YOURSELF
Posts get reactions and threaded replies; photos go in chats and on the feed. Save favourite GIFs (ten free, unlimited with VIP) and use your groups' custom emojis. Your profile has a bio, pronouns, identity tags, a banner and photos. Pick a theme (Prism, Midnight, Sunrise or Ocean), Pride Mode or Soft Mode.
đź”’ PRIVACY
Closet Mode hides what you do from anyone outside your Circle. Stealth Mode also turns off read receipts and hides your online status; or hide just "last seen" and keep the green dot. Share links stay off until you turn them on, so nobody can find your profile by guessing a link. A timeline shows what has happened on your account, including any staff review. Export your data in one tap; delete your account and you get thirty days to change your mind.
🛟 SAFETY TOOLS
Panic Mode: tap the Me tab a few times and Luney turns into a working calculator. Type your PIN and press = to come back; nothing on the lock screen shows it.
Date Check-in: set a time to check back in; miss it and your Trusted Circle gets a discreet alert and a link to your profile.
Trusted Circle: up to five friends who get those alerts, and a message if you do not check in within five minutes of Panic Mode.
Find help near you: a directory of LGBTQIA+ crisis lines, clinics, housing, legal help and community spaces, country by country, checked by a person. It is kept on your phone so it works without signal, and you can browse it on a map.
Capture protection: screenshots and screen recording are blocked across the app.
You can block anyone and report anything, anywhere in the app.
🎉 ACHIEVEMENTS AND REWIND
Badges for your profile, a card on each anniversary of becoming friends, and a year in review called Rewind.
đź”” NOTIFICATIONS
Notifications come as push alerts and in an in-app inbox. Turn each kind on or off, with different settings per group. Hold a chat or group to mute it for an hour, eight hours or indefinitely; the inbox keeps everything.
Sign in with your email, a Google or Discord account, or a magic link. Two-factor is available, with a list of signed-in devices.
đź‘‘ LUNEY VIP
A monthly or yearly subscription that unlocks animated avatars and banners, 50 MB uploads instead of 15, unlimited GIF favourites, styled display names, and a different name and avatar per group.
