Was really happy with this app until the latest update. I agree with all the other recent reviews here - adding bills to the safely spend limit removes the best feature of this app. Some bills are weekly, some fortnightly, some monthly, some quarterly. The safely spend setup page used to tell you what your average allowance for bills needed to be for your budget period so you could figure out how much you could 'safely' spend on top of that. Now that bills are included there will be some weeks that are way over budget and some that are way under, and no way to track discretionary spending. Really disappointed with this decision and cannot understand how it could possibly be considered an improvement. Please allow this feature to be toggled off.
Hello Pocketbook, I can add bills, but can't delete them. A delete/archive button simply isn't there. App keeps telling me I've missed bills because I can't get rid of it! Also, having a bill record in the safely spend amount isn't very helpful. We have 2-monthly utility bills in Australia; that automatically shoots your safely spend budget for that month out of the water. I note this is a recurring theme from other users. I won't be using Pocketbook anymore for now, unfortunately.
The new update has killed this app. Bills counting towards safety spend beats the whole point. Identification of bills, classification and separate calculation of those and creating a Safety spend based on that was the most important feature. By taking it off, the app has become completely useless. I can't think of one good reason why they would want to remove the feature.
Great until the latest update, new categories are nice but including bills in the safely spend renders the function pointless. It's not a safely spend anymore, just a spend. I've no way to track day to day expenses anymore. I used to think that was what safely spend was for, you obviously did too until you changed it. Now I either have to adjust the safely spend every budget period due to quarter and annual bills or I have to set all bills to one off spend. All which involves time, time that your app unlike other budgeting apps used to avoid. Really disappointing.
EDIT: safety spend, the apps feature that I relied on the most, got nuked in the update. It was really clever as it was a way for me to separate my fortnightly budget goal from nondiscretionary, fixed bills. Whether I had lots of bills due or none, I knew what I needed to spend to stay on track longterm. Now I can't do that. Which is extra silly because the safely spend feature basically duplicates what I could already do on the analyse tab. I'll still use pocketbook to check bank balances but now I can't budget with it. I'll restore the old 5 star rating when this is fixed because PB really is that good when it works. I'd even be willing to pay for the feature. ......................... Original 5 star review: Brilliant app that helped me centralise accounting for every dollar my wife and i spend. Personally , I'd love for it to generate some graphs to show where your account balances have been over time, but that's about it . Great app i recommend frequently to friends .
Loved the app before the update. Putting your safety spend in with your bills etc takes away the best feature! Being able to plan your weekly safety spend around your weekly bill contributions needs to come back And transactions need to update more frequently. Barely use the app now, it's redundant
We've updated our categorisation engine so it is now much more accurate and fine-grained! We'll be releasing an all new app in the next couple of months which takes this even further. We've also made an update to Safely Spend after extensive user-testing and feedback to include bills - review you limit so it's accurate.
