Every year many of us set goals that are soon abandoned. We call them New Year’s Resolutions. We abandon them for a number of reasons—too difficult, lost interest, not enough time—but the main reason is often that we have no real commitment to the reason for setting the goal in the first place. Losing weight, for example, does not get us very charged up. If we are told we are going to die if we don’t lose the weight, that may make a difference. We value living. We don’t value being thin so much. We must set goals that align with what is really important to us—that is, our values.
The Goal Mastery app is based on two principles that are important in goal achievement: first, to align goals with values and second, to frequently visualize those goals as being already achieved. This programs the subconscious to help us get the results we are after.
Experts have also found that if you set goal deadlines much beyond 12 weeks, they are too far in the distance to be compelling. So we have limited timelines to 12 weeks. This requires you to set smaller goals set closer together so that you can see progress in regular intervals, even if it takes several 12 week periods to get to the final destination.
We have also build a points system into the application so that you can see progress in terms of measures. We hope you will find the app useful, and welcome emails telling us of your successes (and failures if that be the case). Good luck.
